Two Possessions - [Action/Voice]

Jun 11, 2011 20:15

[Damn shitty town. What does a man with few possessions do? He ends up in the shops, looking at the things he can take. The clothes, the food, the weapons, the furniture... they have no intrinsic value here. So as he peruses the stores, he finds himself disinclined to picked up anything but the essentials. There's no point in taking more than what ( Read more... )

[Cheyenne is in the clothing store, trying to find something to wear now that the weather is starting to get warmer outside (which was harder than you'd think, seeing as she can't see the color of anything she picks up), when she senses something... strange.]

[Which means clearly she needs to stop and stare for a moment.]

[He's none the wiser, at least until he notices the staring, at which case he turns to her with a flat look.]

What, is there something on my face?

If there was, I wouldn't be able to see it. [Since she's staring through the blindfold, of course.]

My apologies for my rudeness. I have never seen a creature such as yourself in the village before.

Didn't you just say you can't see?

[Though... maybe she's somehow able to sense the Philosopher's Stone, like Ling can.]

Not in the traditional sense of the word, no. My vision relies on sense. To be more specific: I sense the souls of creatures around me.

And yours is not a soul I can say I have ever felt before.

Good catch, sister. That's because I'm not like any other soul. I'm a Homonculus. Watch you're sensing is a Philosopher's Stone.

A philosopher's stone? [Tilting her head.] I have never heard of such a thing.

In that case, it's a long story. Either way, what you're sensing isn't just one soul, it's a whole lot of them, all locked up in here.

[He thumps his own chest a bit.]

Many souls. Hm... [That's the impression she was getting, even if they were mostly indistinguishable from one another. There did seem to be one that stood out, but it was hard to tell.]

Forgive me if I am incorrect, but you wouldn't happen to be a sort of creature that feeds on souls, would you?

Please, that's not how I roll. Admittedly I don't have as many of those souls swirling around as I used to, but that's just how I was assembled. I don't go around adding more to the collection.

[And that would only happen if he was running out of lives. And even then... he doesn't have the means to go gather them. He might not even have the nerve to do it.]

I see. That is good to hear. This village isn't quite large enough for two creatures that feed on souls.

[Said oh-so-casually as if they were just chatting about the weather.]

Ehh? You feed on souls?

[Color him concerned. She's a soul eater and he's the grand course. Naturally he's going to be just a tad bit defensive.]

[Don't worry Greed, you don't look very edible anyway.]

That is correct. However, I am not the sort of creature to simply do so as I please. I would only ever feed upon a creature after receiving consent.

Consent? Ha! I bet that must get a lot of takers. Nevermind that most humans tend to place a lot of value on their souls. After all, when it comes right down to it, that's the most valuable thing they'll ever own.

Actually, I have quite a few volunteers who allow me to feed on a regular basis. It is a harmless process, after all. I may be a monster, but I am not the sort who wishes to cause permanent harm in simply staying alive.

Ha! Leave enough of them left over to keep coming back for seconds. For a monster, you're a smart one.
