Headphone / Mic combo adapters for iPhone
I had a hard time finding these, so I thought it would be a good idea to post it on a public log somewhere, hopefully so it's a tiny bit easier for someone.
$20 Griffin 3016-SMRTLKB SmartTalk Headphone Adapter with Control and Mic
$11 Monster iSoniTalk Microphone Headphone Adapter for iPhone
$40 Shure MPA-3C Music Phone Adapter for iPhone
I bought the Shure, thinking it was the only one on the market that did the job, only finding the Griffin and Monster ones later. Based on the Amazon rating though, it does appear that the Shure ones are the best, Monsters are the worst, and Griffin is somewhere in between. This is one case where you do seem to get what you pay for.
The biggest problem is cable management as it adds to the length of the headphone cords, so I have to tuck the excess in my shirt. I do wish that some company offers a full headphone with an iPhone compatible mic built into the cable.
