You are sweet and I like you. Can I assume your name is Brigid? Anywho, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in social work. I don't know what the social work scene is like in IL, but I figure there arent enough self help books to save the world yet- so I am still needed! :)
Thanks for the compliement. Actually, my name's Sally. (Brigid is a goddess I relate well to)
I don't know what the social work scene looks like either, but it's probably better than the teacher scene. Everyone needs social help, while, on the other hand, according to the Bush administration, no one needs teachers, at least the ones we've got now. (grr)
Oh pissah. My hunny (who is coming with me) is a teacher and will be looking for a teaching position. She has her Masters in elementary Education and Special Ed certified... and she transferred her teaching license from MA to IL. She is going to be cranky if her only choice is CVS :) haha.
Do you mean CPS? :-) Chicago Public Schools is hiring, but you have to live *in* Chicago to work there, not just be in the surrounding suburbs.
It's great that she has her Master's, and the special ed cert will get her places I couldn't even wander into. I think she'll have many more prospects than I, depending of course on where you end up living.
The Illinois Board of Education website has a job bank on there, its www.iasaedu.org I think, there's some job postings up there. She can also check individual districts, as well.
actually- I really DO mean CVS... the pharmacy store. She has been working there as a asst. manager for like 10 years now. She wants to teach when we move out there, but will settle for a management position at a CVS if it will pay the bizz-ills. We are going to live *in* Chicago for sure. I heart the city life and don't think suburbs would be my happiness center. Plus, I am going to be taking public transit everywhere, so being in the city will be good. AND we pay $1000 in rent now... so living in the city isnt going to be that outrageous rent wise. :)
Where in Chicago are you looking to move?
