back from Destin

Anime South was a nice little con. The drive kind of sucks but it is so pretty down there. Though I'm still sad I didn't even set foot on the beach the entire time. I was pretty much busy the whole time I was there. As soon as we got there Friday night I started changing into Irukuku to run around with Meredith, Ashley, and Megan. And then I had to be at cosplay judging before ten Saturday morning and I was there until after two. After that I headed up to our room and John and I changed into Brock and Molotov. After we spent some time cosplaying together I changed into Horo and hung out with Katie, Diana, and Nathan getting ready for the contest while everyone else went out to dinner. Then we went to the contest. And after that seven of us crammed into Nathan's car and had ourselves a Waffle House feast. After that we finally got to chill some in the 24/7 indoor hot tub last night. Later on we got a noise complaint from our hotel neighbor because apparently we were just being so incredibly loud watching tv and talking, lol. The poor security guy who came to see us about the noise complaint was confused too. This morning I woke up with an upset stomach, damn you tasty Waffle House and all the other crap I ate over the weekend. Then I went downstairs to host my panel, which I had about a dozen people at. I don't think that was too bad for a Sunday panel at a small con. Right after that the guys had everything packed up and we headed out to grab lunch and start the drive home.

So I guess we'll see if we go back next year. It's just so small that it's not something I would even think about going out of my way for if it weren't for my friends who attend the con. Although if it was during a warmer time of the year and we could go down for longer to enjoy the beach that would probably be a different story. And the dealers room was even considerably smaller than the one at Atlanta Supercon. But the con was pretty chill, and that's a definite plus. Even though I was pretty busy I never felt stressed about it. And judging a contest larger than AUSAM-Con was interesting and really not that tricky. It seemed to me that the other judges and I pretty much liked all the same costumes and then just had to figure out which ones got which awards. Although we were subjected to a couple, um interesting characters in the process. And I met some really nice people over the weekend too. I hope I'll be seeing at least some of them at future cons I go to!

And here's a couple pictures of Irukuku, Molotov, and Brock's debut:

At least a few of you also took some pictures for me. Please send them to vampirate777 at gmail dot com!
