... here is my wisdom for you: selfless duty calls you to sacrifice your own spiritual needs and do whatever it takes, to protect the world.
I guess I don't have a choice, Momo. I have to kill----
[pause, and whispered....]
Oh no. Not now...
I wonder if any of them are still here. I guess we should go find out.
[air bending whoosh sound goes here]

[Okay, he should've seen that one coming. He rolls with that hit, rubbing the side of his head ruefully but still smiling in spite of it.]
I guess you really are fine then.
[Walking back over to her as if she didn't just hit him with the power of a thousand rocks, he grins, arms behind his head, carefree as he is prone to be again, at least for the moment. Toph is a good icebreaker, both literally and metaphorically, and the dynamic she offers to the team is never lost on him.]

Ow, ow, ow hey!
[ Aang airbends his way up, remembers it's cheating, airbends back down and falls into a horse stance, granted one hand still protecting his poor, poor, egg-custard-less gut...]

Of course tomorrow he'll remember it's horrible and what does he do now?
But for the moment, he just appreciates his friends, specifically Toph, his earthbending teacher, and, in many moments, his sensible side. Each of his companions seems to be more inclined to one aspect of his personality, though none of them are narrow to be sure. But if he picked one for Toph, sensible would be it, that and trustworthy. She's got a loud mouth and she'll kick him to the spirit world and back if she thinks he deserves it, but she's also very...well, like her element.
Steady, firm, reliable, enduring. And he sees that.]
I'll leave a recording.
[ He didn't miss that little fact of the matter. ]

I'll see what I can do about that, but Momo helps me think so...I don't know...
[Only half joking here, his expression, which she can't see but can maybe sense in his posture and tone, is a little thoughtful, as if he is really considering this, because, fact of it, he is. At the mention of sandbending he pulls back a bit, opening his mouth to say he can sandbend and then remembering her display of it on the beach and realizing she means sandbend like she can and he shuts his mouth.]
I know, I know...I'm going to train harder than before, you'll see.
[It doesn't matter that people tell him what he does here he won't remember or can't use. Aang doesn't really believe that anyway. If he can learn it here, he can learn it at home and that's what his point roots from, in many ways. He knows what he has to do now and he knows he's not ready... ( ... )
