I quit vegetarianism. It just wasn't worth it, to put it straight.
I was quite surprised that I only lasted for about one week, hehehe. Pretty sad, no? My cravings for steak overcame me while at a BBQ.
It's not that I don't care about the de-billing of chickens or any of that nasty stuff... I just... need meat.
I thought of it this way: you have to go to some pretty drastic measures to ensure your health as a vegetarian (which I find funny, considering they're always talking about how it's a much healthier choice for you). Even the supplements you'd be taking would probably have animal products in it. If you enjoy makeup, furs or leather, that would have to be cut out as well... I don't, but I'm just saying I think it's kind of rediculous how people don't think about the big picture in these situations.
I don't want to have to be monitoring my intake all the time or wondering if what I'm eating has a trace of animal protein. I want to enjoy my meal. I want to enjoy the fruits of nature in all its forms!
That is not to say that I don't care what goes into my body. I do think that free-range farming and organic methods are the way to go. And when I say I firmly believe in "everything in moderation," I mean everything.
Besides... Now, most people joke about this when it's brought up, but I think of each life form as a part of another, with absolute relevance to each other. I watch out for ants. Sometimes I feel guilty if I walk across grass, YES, it is true. What is the difference between the kingdoms but their appearance and perceived practices?
Sophistication? Bullshit. You try increasing the atmosphere's oxygen more than twenty-fold in HELL and see how you fare over a couple of million years.
