Hi Everyone,
The oncologist believes the mass in the left kidney to be a Wilms tumor and that the two smaller shapes in the right kidney appear to be small tumors or precursors to tumors. So we will be meeting him at Children's National Medical Center in D.C. on Monday to discuss further his findings, his plan for treatment, answer any of our questions, meet the surgical team, and hopefully take care of two tests they need to get done before chemotherapy can begin. Another CT scan is needed to check that there are no tumors in her lungs and an echo cardiogram needs to be done on her heart to check its health as the chemotherapy can affect it. Later next week they will then need to put in a central IV line in her body that will need to stay in there for the next 6 months in order to give her the medicine.
The plan is to have 6 weeks of chemo, CT scan to check that they are shrinking, surgery to remove the tumors (estimated at the beginning of March), more chemo, scans, and then removal of line when all looks good. It should be about a 6 month process. So we crave your prayers regarding wisdom, patience, strength, Reese's comfort, healing, and travel mercies as we will initially need to go into Children's once a week for treatment.
Again, we appreciate your many expressions of encouragement and love! We are blessed to have you in our lives.
God is good,
Kirk, Jenna & Sweet-Baby Reese
