This week and next week are crazy busy as I try to scramble things together before I take 11 kids to the Netherlands for the last time. Money has been a real pain in the ass this year, as with the rise of the euro - the trip is more expensive. The total for this year is 19K, and I am still scrambling to pay last minute fees like hotels, and conference stuff. The kids are super stoked, once I am over there I am sure I will be to; it's just all the prep and logistics before we go is a pain. I have to sit in the business office and explain how we need to wire 10k more to The Hague on Monday, and how the hell we got 10k. Actually, I am still working on that piece of creative accounting - it's a headache. I am confident it will all work out, we have this weird lagoon of money where I work, it just takes a lot of talking and figuring out who will pay for what. Example: the school pays for chaperone flights, food, fees. Well, we have to pay for that up front, which comes out of our budget, blah blah blah. I have to say that it's been dizzying the amount of cash I have seen come from nowhere, how parents email you and tell you that they will cover you entirely if you are in the red. Being that I am a middle class person of no afluence, this can be really weird sometimes.
Went back to draw at the same small county guild that I occassionally go to. The moderator there was trying to pass off the class onto me, after I hadn't been there since the summer. Apparently, it's hard to find people to consistently come and moderate classes on Tuesday nights. So, the models they use for this class usually hold a pose for a month - after this month, they aren't sure they'll continue. I wouldn't mind doing it, except that I occassionally have school stuff and for the fact that if I did accept this, I would have to plan and coordinate arranging models to be there. This is a hassle I don't want.
A student in one of my classes asked me if it was true that I work in the city in a tanning salon spraying fake tans on people as a second job. Apparently, when I take the train to my class, which is the same train where the kids from the Oranges and Newark go home on, their questions about what I do on Fridays turned into that. I said I go to the Art Student's League to paint people. I guess from now on I have to elaborate a heck of a lot more. Still, I thought it was pretty damn funny.
Haven't been to the gym in a LONG ass time. I was actually thinking about just cancelling my membership since I have been so busy with school and personal work. It's hunting season on the job front, things are slowly starting to trickle out. Finally saw my first public school opening, which I sent my stuff to immediately. Hopefully, this trickle will gush in the upcoming weeks. I have also been looking into job fairs and that's been helpful.
And that's about it kids.
Have a good day.
