Almost 7 months..geez

It has been almost 7 months of silence from me on LJ. I am so bad at this! So very much has happened so I won't bore you folks with all the details, but suffice to say we have been busy. Our spring involved a trip east to Craig's family's farm. We drove again and had a blast. No New York City this time. We had my Mom with and she didn't want the hassle.

We decided to buy a new house in May. In the process, we thought we had our townhouse sold only for the deal to fall through just before close. So, we are proud owners of 2 places. Oh well, it is a good thing that we are doing ok so the 2 payments won't kill us. It certainly isn't ideal but we will survive. Our new place is out in the burbs. We decided to go with a nice one level ranch in Burnsville. It is a nice neighborhood with lots of mature trees, very unlike other suburb areas. The location is much more central for my area of stores and Craig is still able to take the bus into downtown.

Currently, we are getting pretty well settled into the new place. Our house had a lot of wallpaper when we moved in. It was from somewhere in the 90's and just wasn't working. We decided to splurge and pay a service to remove the paper and paint most of the walls in the house. We left the kitchen and family room alone as we want to do a light remodel in those rooms. The cabinets in the kitchen are in really good shape, but we want to update the counter tops. The family room and kitchen basically flow right together yet have different floor coverings. The kitchen has wood floors and the FR has carpet. I want to have both removed and put a nice new wood floor throughout.

Since my job has a company car that I can also use for personal use, we decided to trade both our vehicles on a new one. The failure of the engine of our 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee fueled this too. Needless to say, we were a little miffed at that! Do all the suggested maintenance and drive it nicely doesn't help!

We decided to get a new 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. Nice cross between a mini van/SUV/wagon. We are still able to haul things, take the dog, haul people, and still have a nice ride. I am very impressed with the vehicle. I love the navigation system. I thought that it was an over-the-top option, but it is pretty neat. It is amazing how accurate it is. With Chrysler and Mercedes-Benz being under one flag, the Pacifica ride on a MB platform and takes many interior styling cues from their vehicles. It really drives and rides well. I am curious to see how it handles in the winter.

Have a a great 4th of July!
