This image was taken from the balcony of my room at the Radisson Bahia Mar Hotel in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday afternoon, March 28.
Now I'm home, with a flu that I caught the next to last day on the ship. There were over 500 kids on board (about one quarter of the total passengers), and I'm sure it was transferred to me by one of those little germ-infested beasts! I only visited the ship's pool once, driven off by the amount of children splashing merrily around. It wasn't that they were unruly, but I simply did not want to come home with a raging case of pink eye. I'm not sure which is worse.
Overall I very much enjoyed the cruise, but I must admit that, although traveling by myself has never been a real problem for me since David's death, this is a specialized excursion that shouldn't be experienced by one's self. It's just not. I think
divamedusa kindly hinted at this possibility in his comment when I first wrote about the impending voyage. He was very much on the mark.
Live and learn.
