Based on the curvature of the Earth...

It really shouldn't be this hard to find someone who wants to go to Cincinnati, Ohio.

Okay, the timing is kind of not good for students, being April 24-27 (weekend before Finals for most of us, yaaaay), but still.

I really want to go to BotCon again. phoo.

The hotel pricing's not bad. It's only $135 a night for a total of $405, and, okay, that's not including tax and assuming we only stay Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night and bust out sometime on Sunday (I'd have to, what with classes on Monday), but that's really not bad. We spent double that for Otakon back when we went (and we stayed in one of the cheapest hotels, yeek), though there were more of us (ie, not just me), so the price per person came out only a little more than the single night cost here. (Har, har, "only.")

But paying the hotel fee alone (it's a static fee. It doesn't matter as long as it's only one to four people in the room; the price won't change), as well as preregistration (300-some if I go for a full Primus package), and airfare (another 300, minimum), and all of a sudden it's over one thousand. My father argues, you have that much. I counter, just because I have the money doesn't mean I can or should spend it as such.

Last year, I was able to convince my parents to come along, since they'd both wanted to visit Rhode Island for quite some time. I will not have that good fortune this time. As well, Cincinnati isn't reasonably drivable from here. Eighteen hours if we go nonstop, minimum? I'll pass. Besides, that would be more expensive than flying.

This would be so much easier if I could access half the internet and maybe find someone to room with. I hate our router.

... Yes, I am whining!

EDIT:
On the really, really positive side, I just found out that I got a raise at work earlier this month. If I don't spend anything beyond what I absolutely need as essentials, I may be able to afford to go it alone.

Still rather have a roommate, but you can't always get everything you want, and whatall.

botcon, these tags are redundant, transformers, conventions, computer woes
