Day 6: I have very few multi-character icons.

Dec 06, 2014 23:43

TODAY I WENT TO NY AND BOUGHT A NEW DISH RACK. Because it was there and ours is gross. And then I watched Supernatural's "Fan Fiction" episode again because I got earwormed pretty bad yesterday (it was still glorious), and THEN I posted yesterday's entry because whoops, it was still sitting there in an open tab. The perils of napping too close to bedtime, guys.

But now I am here to answer
squeemu's burning question: What are my favorite types of character interactions?

AND THIS WAS SURPRISINGLY HARDER THAN I'D THOUGHT IT WOULD BE (aaand now it's after midnight when I'm finally getting post hit OH WELL hello backdate button. ... what? I almost finished in time!) because I know what I like when I see/read it, but articulation is not my forte. Y-you know. In case you'd not picked up on that?

I really like, and I was sort of surprised to think of this but, I actually really like family interaction. So long as it's not, you know, sitcom-type perfect family bullshit and the like. (Pretty sure part of this is related to my frustration with my father's seeming obsession with us being/acting like a perfect sitcom family.) Maybe more like inter-family drama? Only without it being **DRAMA** if you know what I mean? The bad, stereotype high school-esque stuff. For example! Supernatual has a lot of crap, but the dynamics between Sam and Dead, and John and the boys, I love them. Do they always get along? Not freaking hardly. And it leads to some pretty epic badtimes (nothing too major, I mean. Only a few, um, almost-apocalypses). And a lot of times you kinda want to slap them and force them to sit down and actually talk about shit instead of the usual NOT, which leads to the above.

Also I'll always be a little annoyed at Square for never actually coming out and doing anything with the Squall and Laguna PROBABLY RELATED thing. I have no idea how that'd play out, but I'd want to see it. (Laguna is one of those characters who does a lot of things that make me really want to not like him, but at the same time I kind of can't dislike him? We have a complicated relationship.)

Another thing I like: BICKERING. oh god yes bickering. Not straight out fighting, although that's allowed. Things where main characters, or maybe even the whole cast, just cannot get along but they all totally love each other, anyway, are so, so wonderful. ;_; so wonderful I'd maybe put FFXIII in for this, because they sure spend a lot of time not getting along, and I LOVE THEM ALL AAAAAAA.

Also, socially incapable people trying to interact with anyone, basically. Though only sometimes, because when it's done wrong it just makes me want to hide because Secondhand Awkward squick. (Confession: I cannot watch The Big Bang Theory, even though I know it's super popular, because IT'S NOT FUNNY, GUYS. It's uncomfortable and icky.) Like I have a completely irrational sort spot for IDW Prowl. He's hopeless, and he's only gotten moreso, AND YET I basically clap my hands with delight every time he shows up. Or... or possibly that's just because MTMTE is fucking perfect? I don't read much of the other ongoing (I think they changed its title, since RID is going to be the next cartoon series?) because a lot of what goes on in there annoys me, I just check in occasionally. So I guess I can't totally say that about IDW Prowl, since I don't really follow the story he mainly appears in. His Constructicon groupies will forever make me laugh, though, even if the situation itself doesn't.

MTMTE WHIRL, THOUGH, HOW 'BOUT HIM? He hates everyone and yet he keeps doing things that make you think he's just lonely and wants to be friiieeeends. But he is so hilariously bad at it.

... hm.You could probably put Avatar's Zuko in here, too, actually. lolzuko.

Finally, I'm a total sap for relationships of any sort where the characters don't need to communicate vocally/verbally/with words (however they are capable of using words, writing/signing/whatever) to understand each other.

(sunday morning edit: after posting, I totally forgot to go back and uncheck the box that hides this entry from reading lists / allowed me to date it for last night instead of like 1 am this morning. Sorry! It should be showing up now!)
