This afternoon, I went to a NaNoWriMo write-in at the local library. Was fun!
AND NOW: PICTURE POST AAAAUGH
Note: despite these all being Halloween pictures, most of them were not actually taken on Halloween. Wheeha!
Wednesday night I got a call from one of my cousins asking if I would like to go over to the other cousin's house to make cookies and carve pumpkins. SURE SOUNDS FUN. So off we went. Cousin A wanted to use a pattern, so we were poking around the internet looking for something interesting, and she got an invitation to voice chat with one of our uncles. That turned into a video chat, and so none of us did much in the way of making cookies. A's friend/roommate did most of the work. I worked food colouring into the dough to make it orange and turned the nasty canned frosting pretty shades.
Then I noticed I had matched the frosting to the inside of the bowl. Augh!
Here are some of the finished cookies (they were better without the icing):
Here are pumpkins. The one on the right is mine!
We did not actually get to any pumpkin carving, either. A found one pattern she liked and had me recreate it. I left my pumpkin there and went back the next morning/afternoon. We ended up deciding to put a witch on mine. Mom had been in town, so she gave me a ride back, so I didn't have to carry it home.
Then I didn't carve it until the afternoon on the 31st, so here are the ACTUALLY TAKEN ON HALLOWEEN Halloween pictures.
Before attacking!
We used a nail to dot along the lines, so you had a pattern of sorts after you pulled the paper away. It was weird and I'm not sure I'll use a stencil again.
Here is the finished pumpkin twice in a row...
PUMPKIN GUTS AAAAUGH
And then last night I got home from work a bit late and didn't have any candles, anyway (poor planning, that), so I lit it tonight. BECAUSE I COULD. You can see the broom handle shriveled and broke a bit. Alas.
Harder to tell it broke from this angle:
Aaaand those of you who looked at the first image of the pumpkin and thought, hey, there's something on the back... Yeah, you're right. Because I am lame and can never leave well enough alone and I have it on the brain leave me alone.
Garden didn't seem like it would made the transition as well, so. I did this one freehand, at least.
And then today was the last day of the local anime convention and I wasn't working so what the hell. I bought the Dissidia trading arts Squall figure, because they haven't made a trading arts Squall yet and they made Rinoa back in 2004 or something and it's wrong. So, yay.
Got a lot of compliments on my costume, too, which always makes me glee.
Had a couple pictures taken after I got back.
