I AM BEGINNING TO NOTE A DISTINCT LACK OF ANYTHING OF INTEREST GOING ON HERE. O SWEET LIFE, WHEREFORE DOST THY DRAMA INFECT ME SO? I AM PROBABLY USING THE WRONG WORDS THERE. OH WELL.

In Psych class today, we watched clips from The Dark Knight on YouTube, and I still cannot actually watch the Joker because his mouth-tongue thing still squicks me the hell out for whatever reason, and I still do not understand why anyone would ever find him attractive (oh, yeah, Jecca, that's sure a surprise, coming from you), but he did make more... I hesitate to use the word SENSE, but I didn't sit there going, "OKAY, SO, AND...?" so, uh. Sense may be the word. I do not think it is, though.

ANYWAY. SO. Final Fantasy XII. I started playing this ages ago and got frustrated because it was too much like FFXI without actually being FFXI, which left me in situations that went like this: "WHY ISN’T THE WHITE MAGE CURING ME. CRAP, NOW I’M DEAD. OH, WAIT, RIGHT, I’M THE WHITE MAGE.”

But I’ve been wanting to play a console game for a while, and my plans for another from the Silent Hill series were cancelled when even thinking about it turned me into a jumpy, paranoid wreck. So I’ve gone back to FFXII. Rather, I’m going to as soon as I find it. My brother says he doesn’t have it with him at school, and I know I let him borrow it, which means it is in his room. I’d go get it right now! But the entrance to the attic is through my father’s room, and my father is asleep. Also, it’s unthinkably cold up there, and it may warm up slightly above freezing during the day, so. Tomorrow.

The other motivation here is that I lost all of my notes about what the heck was going on when my Dell committed suicide, so I want to get back to it before I forget everything. (And to think, I’d originally had them all hand written and typed them up because I thought it would be better and I’d be less likely to lose or misplace them. aegwhrkjgthl)

So this is going to jump in some part of the way through the game, but for now I’m just going to put what I can recall as having been in the pages and pages of LOST DOCUMENTS mostly to jog my own memory as much as is possible.

What I remember as having come before:

Getting very, very lost in Rabanastre right at the beginning of the game (well, right after the very, very beginning) (I totally just had to look up that name, which is pathetic) and being hopelessly confused by zone lines. What is this floating blue dotted thing? I guess I can’t go that way? NO, JECCA. WRONG CONCLUSION. The dotted blue lines probably came up a lot. They really annoyed me.

TOMATO. WHAT. And freaking out because I didn’t know what aggro’d to what and how far can the sight aggro mobs see and OH GOD DID THAT DINOSAUR JUST EAT A WOLF I AM SO DEAD no wait it left me alone wtf.

Hatred of the waterway (EXTREME), but joy about Balthier and Fran being amazing and awesome and VAAN WHY ARE YOU THE LAMEST PERSON OF THEM ALL. Basch is pretty cool, too. Also: I like when we have a ‘guest’ in the party and so get to have an extra member. It is pretty awesome.

DAMN THE MINES.

LARSA. WTF IS THIS? IS IT MALE OR FEMALE?? Oh, male, okay. Wait, are you sure? ARG.

DAMN THE MINES A LOT.

Also a bizarre and probably sleep-deprivation induced ramble about Nidhogg looking too much like Leviathan and being a HNM (Hyper Notorious Monster, in FFXI speak, meaning it turns all levels of crazy, powerful, and fast when it gets low on health). Also, I took it on about three levels earlier than I should have, so it was a ridiculously hard fight, anyway.

SHIIIIIIP. We got flight capabilities really, really early, didn’t we?

...I CANNOT REMEMBER WHAT I THOUGHT OF PENELO. But I'm pretty sure I liked Ashe. Actually, I'm pretty sure I was least impressed by Vaan, which is unfortunate, what with him being the guy I'm supposed to be following and all.

Anyway, where am I? I think I just got out of the, uh. Desert. Thing. Place. SANDSEA. With giant glowing, floating orbs that are what the elementals look like in this game. I hate magic aggro. I hate it in XI and I hate it here. Though I don’t get magic aggro in XI because I know what the magic aggro mobs look like. (And because 97% of the time you're playing a job that has no magic capabilities? SHUT UP.) I had no idea the, uh, whatever-they-were-calleds were elementals until I’d been chased by like… three of them. YES. SLOW ON THE UPTAKE. So the first half of that place.

I remember I got out of the metal structures, anyway. Je ne sais pas.

I dunno where I was, but I got killed by a bunch of tumbleweed turkeys (one of them had a weird name! I had to try and fight them! NM SYNDROME. Damn you, FFXI) and called it done for the time.

Hmm… As I skim through a guide to pick up the names of all these places, apparently I’ve completely blown my chances of getting some Zodiac Spear thing, and this is apparently a huge deal. Possibly I’ll restart, but that’s… hugely unappealing. SO NEVER MIND~ I’ll end up replaying eventually, anyway, so for now I WILL JUST DEAL WITH NOT REMEMBERING EVERYTHING. Yay! And I’d like to think that if it were really some game breaking thing that I absolutely need, then SE wouldn’t have made it so easy to screw it up. Meh.

I’ll try to remember to dig it out tomorrow, but I’ll actually fire it up and play sometime later. Maybe after I get BLM to 40. (37 now, and I have to say, of all the jobs I thought I’d get to level 37 or beyond? Black Mage was never even in the running, and now it’s the third one. Pretty weird.) I totally thought we were going to level tonight, but my brother didn’t feel like it. DUDE, YOU’RE THE ONE WHO’S BEEN TELLING ME TO NOT BOTHER WITH THE SLEEPING SO I COULD GET TO 40 FASTER. (Not really, but he did start every conversation with it for a while.) I expect I will be 40 before the week is out. Hopefully we’ll get at least two levels tomorrow.

Of course, my brother’s at his … co-op whatever thing all afternoon, so there’s always down time midday when I could pop it in. I wonder which memory card my file is on. Hmmm.
