Ziva was on a reconnaissance mission. She had seen a fair bit of town the night before, but things tended to look different in the light of the sun. That definitely held true in Peaksville. It was even stranger during the day, walking past stores devoid of any sign of occupancy. Stranger still was that they had all been unlocked, laying open to whomever, or possibly, whatever wanted to walk in.
This YMCA building was no different. Empty, unlocked, used but feeling as though had not been anyone around to use it in some time, if ever.
Or at least, she had thought it was empty until she reached the pool area. This room held two occupants. Twins, apparently. Swimming nude.
She smirked, standing at the poolside with her hands clasped in front of her, the slightest lift to her brow.
"Hello," she said, amusement leaking into the single word. "Enjoying your swim?"
James heard her first, stopping to tread water--Jim paused at the other end of the pool and glanced over his shoulder.
"Oh," James said. "Hey."
Jim swam over, resting his arms the edge of the pool and looking up. There was no hint of self-consciousness about their nudity, and no way at all of telling them apart even if one did know them.
"You're new, I take it," Jim said. "We haven't met. I'm Jim. This..." He glanced over his shoulder. "Well, I woke up yesterday as two people. So that's James."
"You mean I woke up yesterday as two people," James said playfully. "And you are?"
“Ziva David,” she said, glancing fro m one to the other, her expression one of slight confusion. “And yes, I am new... I am sorry, but I do not know that expression. Woke up as two people?”
It did not occur to her that the one who introduced himself as Jim had been speaking literally. She just assumed it was another one of those crazy American idioms that made no sense.
"No, I'm sorry," James said, even though he hadn't been the one to say it, "it's not an expression."
"I meant it literally," Jim said. "You no doubt met the man who gave you the tape. He likes to play with us. Yesterday, everyone here woke up different. Some of us can fly. Some can walk through walls. I got split in two."
James swam over. "Maybe we should talk about this more comfortably," he said. "Are there towels?"
