Watching Twilight a second time was really good for my morale.
I went in the first time basically with my reviewer's notebook, ready to rip it to pieces because I'd read the books.
But the second time, I went in the theater just wanting to watch the movie, instead of analyze it. And I was in a better mindframe and it was just nice to be able to enjoy (drool over) R.Pattz and the rest of the crew. And look out for some of the things that people had noted in the LJ communities.
I had the added pleasure of having my mom along. The woman is a laugh riot in the theater because she is worse than me when it comes to noticing things. She noticed that when Edward and Bella pulled up to the police station on the way back from Port Angeles, Bella didn't have her bag. And then when she got back to the house she had the book that she'd put in her bag.
My mom starts whispering when Bella got out of Edward's car "she doesn't have her bag!" and I'm like "sHHHHHHHHHHHHH" it was way hilarious. Then mom did it again when Bella was in her room pulling out the book. I was crackin' up.
The whole thing was better as far as my perspective goes. I still stand by most of my earlier remarks. But I could enjoy the experience more. Full Moon by the Black Ghosts is now one of my favorite songs because of how it was featured in the beginning. It was perfect. And then the Muse song at the Baseball scene? Pretty much amazing.
I still think its a movie only the fans will fully enjoy (the second time around for some of us!) but there have been a few people that I've talked to (including a 30 something friend that got dragged to the theater by his wife) who liked it sans reading the books.
