...It's okay.
I MEAN, it's not like I don't love it. Come on, it's Supernatural. It's just. Not the direction I wanted the show to take. YOU KNOW? I agree with the (primarily) Dean fans: Season 1&2 Sammy was the best Sammy. And I think he should have stayed that way, because that was his character. And I'm not saying that because I'm stubborn, really! But circumstances were not meant to change him, and I think they missed that point when they got it in previous seasons. Heck, they even retained a lot of that in the fifth season. And maybe it's a little early to be completely assuming about him, but I don't think it's gonna get much better, until much later. Or never.
Because basically, they are stuck with painting Sam as the antagonist.
It always seemed to be there, except in the very first season and maybe the second, how Sam was always put in a... more negative light than Dean was. I don't know if they just wanted Dean to be the favorite intentionally, or if it was just something that happened and they kept it, but it's there. Season 4 was focused a lot on that. And now I think the new one will be focused on it as well. Because Dean HAS A LOT OF BLAMING TO DO. I don't blame him (ha). Anyways, on to my notes. (I took notes during the episode, that's weird. But I'd rather sit on the couch than my computer chair.)
- Old Dean/New Dean comparisons, sweet. BEN+SAM PARALLEL, I SEE YOU THERE.

- It's so bright! Bright, bright, bright. Saturated. Colourful. In contrast to the warehouse, at night, and the shed, in the shade of all those trees. I saw what they did there.
- Impala! Oh how I miss thee. It's covered up, but YOU'RE NOT FOOLING US, DEAN. I SEE HOW CLEAN IT IS. He probably takes it out to wash it every week.
- How can anyone not notice the Dean+Sam parallel, as well? All those lies. Dean, Dean, Dean. And of course, that's what he always says to do, but do you remember Season 1, Deano? Sam went down cette même rue. And I remember what you said to him, then. (So naturally, they add in those nightmares about Yellow Eyes and Ben drinking blood and Lisa on the wall. Whoo, another Ben+Sam parallel! Dean would see it as something preventable. Funny how he's the one on the bed, though. But it makes sense. And I bet those stars mean something as well~)

- Dean's poisoned? Oh, a djinn. I didn't see that. I'll have to rewatch it. But why is Sam stabbing Yellow Eyes, then? Isn't that the cure?
- Mom's relatives, but I thought... Dean got that too. Grampa, isn't he dead...? Oh, oh, I see. That's some risky writing there, though. "Third cousins, twice removed, we didn't know about you because you..." wow, confusing.
- Sam's car! The one that... I saw that go past. I SAW WHAT YOU DID THERE. Those tinted windows, oh oh ohhh. He probably spent tons of time just watching Dean. GETTING RUSTY THERE, DEANO.
- A different Ben? Oh, nope, it's the same one. He looks a little different. (Well duh, it's been three years.)
- Bobby! ♥ Ohmygod, he knewwww. Poor Dean. But this marks the spot where Dean starts accusing everyone but Sam, kinda.
- That goodbye scene, hn. I wonder what that train was for. It's so symbolic, I just don't know hahaha! I'm dumb.
- "Best night of my life" Dean turns into "Best year of my life" Dean. Aw.
- Not really liking the Campbells. Sam, STAY WITH DEAN. He'll turn you back into the puppy you're meant to be!
- Jesus, Sam's so freaking quiet. Either they didn't know what to do with him regarding dialogue or... something. Although this was a Dean-oriented episode (for some reason), it's like Sam is always right off camera. Not saying anything. Maybe he's still lost in thoughts of Hell.
- "Ancestors hacking off camp heads on the Mayflower"? I've heard this line before.
- GFFF, SAM IN HELL. WT...H. "I DON'T WANT TO THINK ABOUT IT"!?!?!!? Either he's seriously screwed up, like SERIOUSLY, or he's lying lying lying and he doesn't remember or he never got there and that's not right because he's acting all wrong, but HOW CAN YOU JUST SHRUG THAT OFF. HOW. I don't get what the writers are doingggg.
- Of course they totally would get hurt when they separate, even though they've only been together for a couple hours. ROFLMAO.
- Sam and Dean role switch! Which is mainly what I'm so unhappy about. "I don't think about that." "Yeah you do." "No, I don't." Really Sam? You don't? 5 other seasons say differently. So this should be something he just picked up, except for the fact that he's talking about it like "I've always been insensitive, you know this Dean" but that's dumb because he hasn't and even if he picked it up from the Campbells it's new information with Dean. TL;DR I AGREE WITH YOU DEAN, HE IS LIKE THAT.
- Sam, always rejecting the Impala! Dean, always offering. What does that mean? It's something more, something I haven't figured out yet, but maybe it's also something like a you keep it so you can come to me when you want sorta thing? Plus a if I give this to you I can let go forever and I don't want you to let go entirely sorta thing? *A*
- SAM'S CAR. So black, so shiny. Definitely not as good as the good ole '67, but man, who did he steal that from? XD Very similar to Dean, though. Just more modern. More... broody.
- It's darker at the end, of course. Evening. On the other hand, I don't ever remember them filming a scene at that time, with that lighting. So it's nice. But. It always carries a meaning. So, I think it's pretty obvious that Dean isn't staying out of this for long.
- I miss Sam, and I want to know exactly how long he was in Hell. Maybe not that long at all, like a few days topside? But time stretches even longer when you're at the very bottom of that bottomless pit, so who knows how long he was there. Who knowssss.
To sum it up, I miss Sam and Dean. The old ones. I hope they go back to those characters, I really do, without destroying everything they've built up. I'm not sure if Sam will be my favourite this season, because I don't find myself clicking with anyone yet. (I tangent too much, and over-analyze, and it's only the first ep lol.)
