“How do you feel?”
Yuri shrugged, looking away from where he was staring out the window at the city beyond and back to Raven. “I don't really know. It's just something that I'm going to have to get used to, I guess.”
He wasn't sure what to say. The doctors had said that there was nothing that could be done and they'd cautioned him against pursuing the topic too much, just in case it triggered some sort of negative psychological reaction. According to them, the news hadn't quite set in yet.
“Ah.” What else was he supposed to say?
Carefully, as though he was unsure, Yuri reached out and took his hand in his, giving it a comforting squeeze. He managed a small, not quite happy smile when Raven looked up at him.
“I'm sorry. About this.”
That snapped him out of his thoughts, “You don't have to apologize, it's not your fault. You couldn't have known-”
“I've known for a while,” Yuri murmured quietly, glancing down at their hands. “They've been giving me some problems for months now.”
“Why didn't you say anything?”
“I didn't think it was serious,” Yuri replied. “And... I didn't want you to worry about me.”
Raven let out a heavy sigh, running his hand through his hair quickly before giving Yuri the sternest glare he could muster. “You're an idiot, Yuri.”
