During finals week, my trusty MacBook started to make a clicking noise and died. I hadn't made any backups because the laptop was fairly new and hadn't put anything valuable on it that I would keep. Until I upload my photos from my 2384792374 thousand mile backpacking/studying trip around Europe and then deleted from my camera's memory cards. And by then fall quarter was in full swing and I was so busy with 16, 18 hour days that I neglected to back everything up. And then it happened.
I didn't think I would be this sad about it but I am. I'm much sadder this time than all the other million times that this happened to me. The worst things always happen to me.
I can't help but think of that exquisite photo I took on the steps of Sacre Coure - with the people lounging on the green hillside and a flock of birds circling around towards the church and coming straight towards me. I wanted to blow that up and put it in my future house. The day I spent in Sailsbury by myself, naps in dirty train stations, the friends I made in Italy - everything gone.
