... I know. I had dreams of him all the time, when I was searching. Even after I found him, it took weeks before I started to .. actually believe he'd still be there when I woke up.
[shoots him a sudden glare, sharp and almost .. offended. his brows are drawn down and a frown pulls his lips thin, but he doesn't say anything in reply.]
[Riku wasn't looking at him, but he could practically feel the glare when it hit him]
Roxas...if not for this ship, I wouldn't have seen him again. You know that better than I do. The last time we would have been together, just us and Kairi, would be when I was nine. Almost eleven years, now.
I guess that makes me the old man in this situation.
[he's quiet for a little while, thinking that over] ...I know Sora will win. Him and Kairi, and you and Naminé, I believe in my heart that you will. But I do know that there's no way to bring a Nobody back. In over three hundred years, wouldn't the Organization have found it by now?
And I am the first of my kind in all of those three hundred years. I am the first Nobody Keyblader ever to exist. Don't you think they would have found a way to create one sooner, if they could?
[quietly] Knowing Sora -- and what he can do -- there may be other firsts still coming.
it takes some time, but eventually he steps onto the beach, walking quietly up to stand beside him]

It's easy to say that. That the future is uncertain, or that we can still change it.
But I don't believe it. We already know that if we ever do leave, we won't remember this. History will continue the same way.
