[ For the first time in... A while, there's a brief hint of hope in her eyes as she catches his "I remember" and her breath stops in her throat, hands clenching into fists at her side ]

Is... Is that all you remember?

[twilightfell]

[he glances curiously up at her, pausing for a moment. the question turns him thoughtful]

... no. But the rest is all .. pretty vague. Mostly just flashes .. [makes a vague hand gesture]

This stuff, though .. is pretty clear, for some reason.[he rocks back on his heels, letting his head fall back on his neck] Right before we died the first time .. I don't know why, though.

[ The disappointment settles in her stomach, though not as hard as she thought it would. She nods, somewhat defeated, and looks away from the Sphere ]

... I see.

[ There's a small moment of silence as she thinks, frowning ]

I want you to be careful.

... I'm coming back now anyway.

[his voice is a little absent, gaze drifting away from the Sphere as he glances around the room one last time. It's like he let her down, but he's not sure how. Abruptly he portals, darkness enveloping his end of the Sphere for a few moments before he reappears by her side.]

I didn't .. bother fighting for a reason. Because I figure .. what is the point? [he stares up at the sky - what's left of it, anyway] I thought I'd just .. see. But mostly, now, I'm waiting. And I'll .. I want to .. make sure you're safe. Until the end. So I won't get hurt.

[ She can't bear to look at him in the eye as his speaks, especially when he mentions wanting her safe. Memories of the last instant they had before come back again and her eyes mist over ]

It's the same thing again.

[ She knows she's repeating herself... And that repeating herself won't do anything to help the situation, but she can't help it. It's different this time though, seeing how much closer the black hole is and she's just scared. The way her voice shook gave away that she was scared and the fear was only taking a stronger hold of her ]

The same thing.

[He knows without having to think what to do. He simply reaches out and gathers her right into his arms, moving so that he's behind her and her back is pressed to his chest. His arms curl around her middle and he rests his face against her hair to speak in a murmur]

It'll be okay.

[ She lightly rests her arms and hands over his, eyes closing as she leans back against him slightly. Her clockwork feels heavy and she takes in a deep breath, trying very hard to keep from breaking down into tears. She more or less succeeds, though she finds herself unable to speak and simply nods ]

[He just presses his face into her hair for a moment more before propping his chin on her head and just .. holding her.]

Hey, it's okay. I know it's .. I mean .. it's scary. But it's not the end. We'll still be here after it's over. We'll .. get to keep going.

[ Though her eyes open, her gaze is still downcast and she bites her lip for a bit ]

But things... Were different, back when we started again. I... I could remember some things, but I forgot everythi - everyone else, except you.

[ She takes in a small breath ]
