Mind games

I've always thought there might be some advantages to having nasty psoriasis.  One of the more fun instances occurred on the subway in New York on Monday.  I was going up to meet Alisa after she finished work, on the uptown 4 train.  It being the rush hour, I was standing when I got on.  At Brooklyn Bridge, this massive guy got on and stood near me.  Then at Union Square, I could see that a seat was coming free, but it was nearer him than me.  So I manoeuvred myself behind him, with my arm across his path, so I could take the seat.  That pissed him off.  Then it turned out that two people were getting up anyway, so he sat down next to me and proceeded to spread himself out as much as possible, squeezing me into a corner.  Revenge, I guess.  I rolled up my sleeves and laid my arms out across my legs.  A few seconds later, the train moving again, he gets up.  The seat next to me remains open and no one else joins him.  He stands until Grand Central then ends up sitting opposite me.  He glances occasionally at my arms, a disturbed look on his face.  I feel like saying, "Yup, that's right, I'm a leper.  Muahahaha."  Instead, without making eye contact, I just turn my face towards him occasionally, raise an eyebrow and smile.

Fun times.
