These shoes were made for running

Mar 24, 2008 20:09

I almost bought a pair of these at a hamfest 8 years ago here in MI. They looked almost as good. But with out the apple II software I decided not, also they were not my size. He wanted artound $20.00 for them. Free maybe I would have taken them.

Not that good with all the copy and paste in the HTMl. Took a little while to get it his far.

iPod + Nike's Fat, Moldy Grandpa: Apple II Pumas

Before iPod + Nike, there was Apple II + Puma. The built-in pedometer in these 1980s clodhoppers look like a recipe for some cracklin' good shin splints, if you ask me. After pounding the pavement, you download the time and distance to the Apple II via its game port to track your progress, along with your knees' crippling descent into being cartilage-free. I think they didn't take off because they lacked that crucial Walkman hookup. Hit the jump for a closer view.

These Puma running shoes from the 1980s had a built in pedometer that interfaced with an Apple II's "game port" to download the distance and time traveled for later analysis. More details of their construction at the link below.
