1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn on your music player and put it on random/shuffle.
3. Write a drabble related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it's over. No lingering afterwards!
4. Do ten of these, then post them
First, thanks to
sashataakheru for providing me with this challenge. Thanks again!!
Okay, here goes - should be fun as a significant number of my playlist is in Japanese, so I can't always understand the lyrics...! Turns out there is a large number of soundtrack songs in my playlist - to be fair, I'm writing this on my new laptop, and I haven't shifted the music over yet!
~~~~~Music Challenge - Tim Minchin~~~~~
1: Fancy That - Timmy The Dog
--Untitled (Tim/???)
I wonder how long you willingly put up with me before turning bitter? You always seemed so sweet at the beginning, when I was so naive, so inexperienced... You were my first love you know? Of the male variety of course - I had my two exes when I met you (now I'm married to one of them - didn't see that coming, did you?).
When I think of you I remember things being so wonderful at the start - you made me so happy and content. Then it began to shift... You picked at me, pointed out my flaws. I grew defensive and now, my grand fuck you - I'm with a guy who makes me happy. Wonder if you'll hear the song I recorded with my band...? Doubt you'd ever figure it was related to you even if you did. Jackass.
2: Pirate Song - The Frustrators
--Untitled (No pairing)
The first time Tim sold out a venue in his home town of Perth, he and his mates had gone out for a drink - which turned into a significantly demented pub crawl. By the time things had hit 1am, they were all pissed, and Mark was swaggering acting like a pirate, which amused them all no end, until he got them all tossed out of the last bar by threatening to ram his false leg (in reality a large beer bottle) up the bartender's arse for refusing to serve him.
3: Persuing My True Self - Persona 4 Soundtrack
--Untitled - seeing a trend here yet...? (Tim/Adam)
There were times when Tim wanted to get away from it all; the constant travel and information flying around him would confuse his mind to the point where he didn't even feel human any more. Even his relationship with his wife would screw with his mind, when normally it'd be a sanctuary. It was those time he wished to be with Adam in that single hotel room again, with little more on his mind then the company he was keeping, and what he should order for them both to eat.
4: Magoichi's Truth - Onimusha 2 Soundtrack
--Untitled (Tim/Adam)
Tim felt physically sick when he heard the news from his manager. It was shortly after he'd finished talking to the loyal fans who had camped out in the bar waiting for him post-gig. Julia had come over to him, ashen faced, telling him to sit down. He did so, confused as to why she was so upset, when she broke the news.
Adam was flying into the country on Quantas. It'd crashed and he was a victim. Tim joked about how Adam had always mocked the airline's safety record, before slowly breaking down.
5: Great Australian Midget Toss - The Frustrators
--Great Australian Midget Toss (No pairing)
In his time as a comedian, Tim had many strange things (Adam dressed up as Frank N Furter being just one). None more stranger than gathering round at Hamish Blake's house to celebrate his engagement, and seeing a certain few guests taking the midgets that were related to Hamish (on his father's side apparently) and throwing them down the garden. To be fair, all of them were pissed, and the midgets consented and were barely hurt, but it was a mind-fuck to see little people flying a good 50 yards at an engagement party.
He refused all of Hamish's party invites after that.
6: Running Up That Hill - Placebo (for the record, this version is better than the original by far)
--Untitled (Tim/Adam)
Few people were aware of Adam's battle with depression, especially since he put on such a positive face to the outside world. But, as Tim knew only too well, that was merely a fascet of the illness - bipolar depression made him the nicest person at times, and a complete and utter bitch at others, lashing out at those he cared about, who cared for him. Often Adam would say from vicious to Tim that would hurt him deeply, but be the most delightful man in a matter of hours, so harsh was the condition. It left their relationship in tatters by the time Adam was deemed mentally stable, but they worked hard to regain what had been lost, what had been practically shattered by Adam's demons. None the less, Tim couldn't forget what it was like to have Adam curled up against him in hospital, in the secure unit, sleeping after tiring himself out with rage and tears and joy and excitement. Those times he stroked his hair and wished more than anything to swap places with Adam. Even now, seeing how biased people were to the illness, he still wished he could.
--------At this point WMP went a little loopy. Fucking piece of shite....
7: A Drop Filled With Memories - No idea (it appeared, no idea where from - sounds like it could be from the Paprika Soundtrack though)
--Untitled (No pairing)
Tim wandered back from visiting friends in Perth, the sky illuminated with stars. He felt happy and content, staring at the night sky and the deserted streets. He couldn't help but recall his childhood with a smile, lips curving up gently as he remembered street corners where he raced around with his friends, buildings where he'd brought his first record, where he had his first kiss, where he first worked. Bars still blaring with music where he'd gigged for the first time, shops where he'd admired instruments for hours... All of these memories so neatly contained in these many masses of buildings and places; it was both amazing and a little peculiar, but it made him smile none the less. Quietly humming one of the first songs he wrote to himself, he continued back to his present along streets lined with his past.
8: Traumerei - Persona 4 Soundtrack
--Melancholy (Tim/Adam)
It was a bittersweet day, when he and Adam had called 'it' off indefinetly. After Tim's wife had given birth to their second child, and the dates arranged for Adam's wedding to Ali, it seemed like the right thing to do; arguably, it had been the right thing to do since the moment they had started, but they had never concerned themselves with that. They'd parted on good terms, being more friends than lovers in the end anyway, but none the less, it was strange that he'd no longer have to run around in the shadows, stealing a night just to be with his older lover...
9: Love Don't Roam - Doctor Who Soundtrack/Murray Gold
--Karaoke Blues (Tim/Adam - sorta)
Tim sat dumbfounded as Adam sashayed his hips in time to the music, watching in disbelief as he sarenaded him with a song from Doctor Who. Across the table Myf was in a fit of hysterical giggles, Hamish laughing loudly whilst still managing to record the whole performance on his phone. Everyone else at the table from the Spicks and Specks were in similar states of amusement, or else were cheering Adam on, especially when he descended from the karaoke stage to sit in Tim's lap, stroking his hair whilst singing, eyes glittering with amusement and affection. When Myf and one of the runners started singing backup vocals, Tim could feel the colour drain from his cheeks whilst Adam's grin broadened; Adam was getting far too much pleasure from his discomfort...
10: You're Not Here - Silent Hill 3 Soundtrack
-- Bad Timing (Tim/... - read and find out, basically))
Staring boredly out of the window of the car as he journeyed to his next gig, Tim mused quietly about leaving London. He'd done a recording of a show there and fallen head over heels for a guy, they'd kissed backstage after the recording, and then... Then he had to head north for a gig, leaving behind the man who now consumed his thoughts without relent. His fingers reached up and played along his lips subconciously as he considered the kiss, how smoothly they'd come together, as if one... He sighed to himself, shaking his head to dispell the still lingering surprise that his next potential hook-up was Derren Brown.
...Done! That was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Time restraints and the odd mix of music made it hard to write for them all, but there we go - done at last. Now to figure out if I can post them to any comms (MTW_100 maybe...?).
