"Haruka, have you seen my mirror?"
"Feeling a little vain?"
"I thought I had left it in the bedroom..."
"Do you really need to see the truth in there?"
"Don't you enjoy the reflection?"
"Hmph. Say, didn't Chibi-chan ask to borrow a mirror for the day?"
"Oh dear..."
--
Motoki thumbed the handle of a golden hand mirror resting next to the register. He studied the structure of the nude figure enveloping the edge of the reflective glass through the corner of his eye. "Who would leave such a thing?" he thought as he briskly covered the female figure as a customer strolled past the counter on his way to play Sailor V. "More importantly, who would carry such a thing?" Feeling a bit flushed, Motoki placed the mirror beneath the counter top.
"Motoki-san!" Rei and Minako called in unison as they bounded up to the register.
"Rei-chan, Minako-chan, how are you today?"
"We're fine," Rei replied casually.
"But we're looking for something!" Minako blurted bracing herself against the counter. Motoki felt the wall against his back.
"Minako..." Rei hissed pulling the blonde gently on the shoulder in order to tame Minako's energy.
The surface of the mirror began to softly glow, illuminating the space underneath the counter. Motoki cautiously took a step forward and peered into the rippling surface as Rei continued to quietly chastises Minako for her ample mouth. An image of sultry Minako pinning a girlish Rei against the counter flashed across the surface of the mirror, Minako's delicate hand tugging at the hem of Rei's uniform skirt.
The coolness of the wall relieved Motoki's heated back.
"Motoki-san?" Minako said pulling herself away from Rei's frown, "Are you feeling alright?"
"Ah, yes, it's just a little warm back here..." Motoki supplied stepping lightly towards the two girls. He caught the reflection change to an image of Motoki braced against the counter top with Minako sliding a finger down his neck. The sandy haired arcade worker balked.
"Well, we're missing something rather important," Rei began slowly, a slender eyebrow raised in curiosity as Motoki readjusted to breathing normally.
"It's a mirror," Minako supplied eagerly. Motoki's condition stilled, but an impish thought flashed through his green eyes.
"Mm, I can't say I've seen a mirror," Motoki answered, his heart fluttered. "I'll keep an eye out for it, though, so why don't you check back later?"
"Okay!" Minako grinned brushing droves of blonde curls off her shoulder.
"Bye Motoki-san," Rei replied leading Minako to the entrance, her face slightly puckered.
"Bye Motoki-san-- Hey, Rei-chan, no so rough--" Minako's voice drifted through the closing glass doors.
Motoki sighed heavily and lifted the hand mirror from its resting place. He saw his own face on the surface of the mirror, the images had gone. He patted himself a few times on the cheek while watching the mirror intently, shrugged, then placed the mirror back under the counter.
--
Motoki busied his mind with multiple tasks about the arcade, afraid of what would happen if her were to allow it to sit a dwell. However, he couldn't help periodically sweeping the floor behind the counter every five minutes, stealing glances at the golden hand mirror beckoning his artful gaze. After several copious tickings of his wrist watch, he reached for the handle as Ami and Makoto appeared at the sliding doors.
"Hello Motoki-san," the girls greeted meeting him at the arcade counter.
"Ami-chan, Makoto-chan, what are you two up to?" Motoki smiled loosening his grip around the mirror handle.
Makoto hesitated, looking down at her blue haired companion. Ami quietly met her gaze. "Chibi Usa-chan has lost an important item," Ami answered, she laid her hands gently on the counter, gathered together in a neat pile.
Makoto studied the counter intensely while Motoki stole a glance at the mirror. The mirror's surface had shifted back to an image, but this time of Makoto's muscular shoulders gently being caressed by Ami's petite hands through the fabric of her school uniform.
"Motoki-san?" Ami's gentle voice startled both Motoki and Makoto.
"Oh, it's nothing," Motoki automatically answered with a reassuring smile. "So did Chibi Usa-chan happen to lose a mirror?"
"Why yes!" Makoto confirmed, "How did you guess?"
"Rei-chan and Minako-chan were by earlier," Motoki offered with a chuckle.
"Figures Minako-chan would run over here first," Makoto sighed with a shake of her head. A hinted smile graced the smaller girl's face.
"I'm sorry girls, I haven't seen it," he stated confidently glancing back down at the mirror, "I told the other girls to--" Motoki choked. In the mirror sat innocent Ami between her three beautiful female friends on the verge of being indecently exposed. Ami's expression of parted lips pained Motoki to his core and his throat.
"Motoki-san!" Ami yelped at Motoki's sputtering. Makoto slapped Motoki on the back.
"Thanks Makoto-chan," Motoki wheezed gathering himself up from the counter.
"Sorry," Makoto giggled abashedly.
"We'll be by later to see if you've come across it," Ami offered already walking towards the door. Makoto waved goodbye as she followed Ami through the entrance.
He waved back until he watched Makoto's brown ponytail disappear down the sidewalk before making a grab at the nearby phone. "Mamoru!" Motoki breathed clutching at his chest. "I found a gold hand mirror at the arcade," he cried, frantically pawing at the trinket of fortune and death, "Did Chibi Usa-chan leave it?"
--
"Mamoru-san, wonderful to see you."
"Hello Michiru-san, I believe I have something of importance that belongs to you."
"Oh, my mirror!"
"My friend Motoki found it at the arcade, I apologize for Chibi Usa carelessness. I believe she's learned her lesson."
"Don't worry, Mamoru-san. Chibi-chan apologized appropriately a few hours ago with Usagi-chan when she returned the mirror I had lent her yesterday."
"A few hours ago...? Michiru-san, isn't this THE mirror?"
"Oh no, Mamoru-san. I had this hand mirror specially made for Haruka. I've never seen her so womanly as she appears in this reflection."
