“Want some help?” He slid into the kitchen soundlessly, making his way up behind her. Bella looked over her shoulder and motioned with her head towards the dishtowel.
“Get to it,” she said. “I’ll wash, you dry.”
Jacob lifted the first dripping pan from the strainer. “Thanks for coming over,” he said. “Dad’s asleep, now.” Billy’s surgery hadn’t been too traumatic, but the extra pair of hands - a female’s, which could cook, even - was helpful. Jacob paused thoughtfully. “I look at this as practice. You know, for when we’re married.”
Bella laughed and flicked some water at him. “Sure, Jake.”
