Author's Notes: Title is from the Masterpiece Theater version of "Jane Eyre", which I just saw for the first time on DVD and am squeeing all over the place about!
As he withdrew from Bella's mind and her body, Edward complacently reflected that he was a bloody fool.
To think that he had once imagined that he and Bella could be together and do without this.
He had flattered himself that his love was pure, a love of the soul, a courtly love. After years of solitude in the midst of his family, of ducking Tanya’s advances, of scornfully sifting the thoughts of men through his Olympian mind, he had convinced himself that sex was beneath him.
It was not beneath him... it was necessary.
