It's been a while now?
I've been insanely busy. My final exam is finally coming up, but for that to happen, I had to go off the 'Net almost completely. It simply stole too much time. But now, finally, the thesis is All Done, sent to the examinator, no way back. What a relief.
Today my main advisor returns from her holiday, and hopefully I get the exact exam date. I kind of need it, I have to confirm or change my plane tickets for the US tomorrow ;) Yep, things are moving fast here. Wedding, final examination and leaving the country, all within two months!
I've just started planning what to take with me (I'm allowed 32kg luggage + one piece of cabin luggage), what to send to the Salvation Army, who I can trust to take appropriate care of Katsushiro (my betta fish) and where to store all our things. Unfortunately it seems we've got to give up our current flat. I hoped for the longest that L, my husbands cousin, would stay in it for the year (and spare us the moving out bit ;), but she finally decided to stay put where she lives right now. Too bad. Our landlords really hoped she would come too, they really wanted us back next year. Well, we can always call on them before we return, to hear if it is vacant.
Three weeks to go, and the cards from the photographer haven't arrived yet. Can you tell I'm stressed? I seriously need those cards, I have to write them all and get them out to the right adresses before we move country. And there's 80 of them!
Our Visa papers and passports finally arrived just yesterday. And I can tell you right now, getting into the US is a bitch! We had to meet up in person at the Ambassy. That's right, almost three hours travel plus, we had to stay a night in Oslo. Then queing outside the embassy gate for an hour and a half, security check, new queing for another half hour, new security check (we're still outside btw), finally getting in the visitors entrance, pay the fee and hand over the papers (no I do not seek to enter the United States to engage in export control violations, subversive or terrorist activities, or any other unlawful purpose, nor have I ever partaken in genocide or been part of the Nazi government), before more waiting. Five hours of travel, two and a half hours of waiting for less than four minutes of interview!
Wow, you've got to catch an awful lot of terrorists this way!
Excuse me for saying this, but this is just a complete waste of other peoples time and money! Two whole days went to do this four minutes interview! At least it wasn't raining...
So to all I've missed, not meaning to snub you, I just haven't been able to keep up lately. PS, I said I wouldn't get an online photoalbum, but with all the pretty pictures, I kind of want to share... Any recommandations? Have to be free, 'cos I've got no money to spend on frivolous things right now.
