Got to sleep in today which was nice after all the early shifts I've been doing. Think I woke up in the area of 10.

I puttered around for a little bit and then started getting myself organised for the football final in the afternoon. I looked up my train times and sent Kelly a message to let her know we'd be taking a train in at 1251 (my time) so to get ready for that. Ash and I went down the street and she bought some food for work and the day and I got myself some Chiccos to take to the football - required game food. Also bought the puppies a nice big bag of chicken wings.

We got home and I got dressed for the game, then put on an episode of Conan to watch before I went to the station. Megan and Steve got home around then and started making some chicken and salad rolls and asked if I wanted one. I said yes, but it was close to time for me to leave, so I told Kelly to push it back to the next train, so I could get this sammich down and not have to rush.

Finished eating and went to the toilet, except I had bad stomach issues and it made me a little late. Ash drove me down to the station and just as we were coming into the car park the train started rolling in. We knew I wasn't going to get on it in time, so we decided we'd try and beat it to Broadmeadows. That lasted about as far as the traffic lights at the end of the car park when the train went past us. After communicating with Kelly, we decided Ash would drive me to Moonee Ponds where Kelly would meet me and then we'd drive into the city. We could of waited for the next train, but it would of left us really rushed for time and possibly even late. Ash dropped me off and we said our goodbyes then Kel and I started in for the city.

We ended up parking in Melbourne Central and then caught the train around to the 'G from there. Just as we were walking into the ground the national anthem started playing, meaning if we had of taken the train we'd definately of been late. We were right infront of Kelly's seat so she went straight in and I had to walk to the other side of the ground, taking a small detour around the outside as I had to go around the MCC section. I missed the first goal of the game, but it was a Bulldogs goal anyway so that didn't matter and then made my way down to my seat in amongst the Geelong cheer squad.

Now I've never sat amongst, or even that near to the cheer squad really, and I must say it was definately a unique experience. It's definately a much more vocal and loud group than where you usually sit and it makes you notice a bit more how much chanting and things like that they really do. The one great thing I liked about it though is that it really does give you a license to go nuts. I'm a pretty vocal supporter when I'm at games, in that I'll cheer loudly when we do something good. I'm not one of those people who abuses the umpires or players (Groans are acceptable) but I generally try to keep it respectful of other people around me, who 9 times out of 10 are supporters of the opposition. In the cheer squad it was great because I was able to jump up and down when I got excited and I could shout as loud as I wanted because everyone around me was feeling the same things. I will say though, the only negative thing I felt about the group, was they are very quick to grumble when the flow of the match turned against us for a period there. They weren't slow in getting on a few players backs, who they'd been all about not long before. But on the whole, great experience I'd do again if it came up. For the record we won by 14 points (after leading by 30+ at the last change) and now have the week off again, and will play in the Preliminary final in 2 weeks. We could and should of won by more, but they really badly went into cruise control in the last quater and only did what they needed too to win.

After the game finished up I met back up with Kelly and we made the long walk back to Melbourne Central and Kel got some ice cream on the way, then I drove back to our parents house so that she could eat.

Got back to their house and talked about the game with my parents and then started watching the pre-game stuff for the Brisbane/Carlton match, while mum and dad started getting dinner ready. For dinner we had pork chops with potato bake and bacon/cabbage mix. It was out of this world great. Had a couple of glasses of red with it as well and we watched the game up until half time, when my parents took me home.

When I got home there was nobody home. Steve was at his aunt/uncles house and Ash was out with Belinda and friends, so I watched a bit more of the game and tried doing some online Gears of War, but I was having a real hard time finding matches and when I was, I was getting horrible lag, so I wound up watching football more, which turned out alright, because we got to watch Brisbane turn a 5 goal margin in their favour to win. Steve came home towards the end of the game and watched that with me, then we played some Batman. Ash came home during that and went to bed and I followed suit after a bit more Batman
