Hi! I just realized that I haven't posted since before I had the baby - sorry!
He'll be 4 months in 2 days (it's after midnight) I can't believe it. It seems like he just got here and at the same time it seems like he's been here forever - I can't imagine my life without him.
I'll give the quick and dirty birth story - it'll eventually all be out there for everyone but it didn't go the way I wanted it to and I'm more accepting of it but I'm still not ready. Mom got here Saturday night, Sunday we went out for dinner, shortly after midnight I wake up to broken water. Labored at home until around 6-7am, went to the hospital Monday...3 cm...labored on the bed, on a ball, one lap around the hospital...3 cm...it's an hour drive to the house from the hospital so we stuck it out there...more time passes...4-5 cm...pitocin and labor in the TUB!...5 hours later, pitocin is too much, epidural :(...directed to sleep, it's Tuesday around 5 am, sleep...wake up, epidural is mostly gone...pushing...4 hours later, still pushing...epsiotomy :(...BABY!...happy family hour...no placenta...get put completely under for retained placenta removal.
I wasn't allowed up and out of the bed until Wednesday, I think I lost more blood than they let on. On top of that at some point during that first night I had a fever so I was on antibiotics and stuff.
The main high point of it all is that breastfeeding is working out. It took some work and a lactation consultant (luckily covered by insurance) but we feel like old pros now. Pumping for work sucks but I'm determined to stick with it.
I'm staying up to adjust to crew hours again, I had been working day shift. The "bad" thing was that baby and I were co-sleeping (in a bed separate from Brandon) and now I'm going to be gone during the night. I'm going to miss having my squishly little man to sleep with during the weekend/days off but Brandon isn't comfortable sleeping with the baby and it wouldn't be fair to keep this up forever. On top of that I'm going to have to wake up every few hours to pump to keep my supply up. I'm on some supplements to up my supply but I haven't seen an increase yet.
Anyways, thanks for still reading if you're out there - hope you're all doing well
