Round 3 is up, so you know (or maybe you don't) what that means--time for the first bonus challenge. For those new here, three times during the competition we offer an additional round to catch up or build a safety net. It's completely optional, but your extra work can pay off. There are only two real big differences between bonus rounds and regular rounds: 1) No additional categories besides 1-3 is handed out. Not even Mod's Choice; and 2) NO REMINDERS ARE GIVEN. It's all up to you to remember an motivate yourself to earn those extra points.
This week's bonus was derived from suggestions from two of Round 1's winners,
fanplastico and
nyaza . Their idea was to create up to five icons that are either monochrome or with a block of color. I'm allowing either option because monochrome alone may be too hard to accomplish making a great icon.
Essentially, a monochrome icon would be entirely one color, or shades of one color. You can google to get a better idea, but the mot common forms of monochrome art are b&w pieces and sepia pieces. But you can totally choose to make an red icon you want featuring crimson, pink, magenta, etc. I'm actually very curious to see how something like that would turn out.
If that sounds way too daunting, the other option is to do an entirely b&w icon with (an) example(s) of color. However the color must come be displayed as a geometric shape: a circle, a square, a triangle, a heart. In other words you can't color in an apple, or a pair of lips, eyes, or another object all neatly. It this sounds confusing, look at a few of these examples:

So, have fun and good luck. :)
