I'm just starting reading A Festival on the River, a book i picked up on a whim after seeing the Antony Gormley: Blind Light display. I've been fascinated by the brutalist buildings on South Bank since moving to London and the whole what-was-there-before-what's-there-now-was-there - I love wondering around the site and seeing the walkways that are no longer used and looking at how they have tried to soften the hard concrete lines and shapes. really makes my brain tick over also, so this book should be great. It seems to stop at the National Film Theatre, whereas in my brain the set goes right across to the National Theatre, but we'll have to see what the book talks about later.
To complement I'm listening to Candidate's Under The Skylon - an album that takes the 1951 Festival of Britain as inspiration. Its not grabbing me as much as their previous album as yet, but there are some wonderful melodies, and I expect I'll be liking it lots as I listen to it more.
