Archie shook his hand readily, the very picture of holiday spirit. "My name's Archie Kennedy, Scotty," he replied, testing the sound of it. "Good to be in the spirit of things."

"Quite all right. No need to worry. Besides, it gave me an opportunity to meet someone new. What is it that you do for a living?" And just what does a person do with their hands after being kissed by a complete stranger? Archie crossed his arms and leaned against the wall, not vacating his spot under the mistletoe.

"Right now? Work half-time fer GAME, which is this..." Scotty paused to think about it, clasping his hands behind his back. How exactly does one explain this? "...it's sort o' this engineering firm, 'cept there's quite a bit o' arcane energy hangin' about it. My boss is a master mage. Other job is workin' as a manager fer a clothing design firm. An' then I tend bar on the side."
That was quite a list. Scotty chuckled, shaking his head, then looked back at Archie. "What d'ye do, then?" He sincerely doubted it was any stranger.

Listening politely, Kennedy thought to himself that a lot of the jobs Scotty was performing didn't seem like the typical fare. Then again, who was Archie to talk? "I'm a school teacher. Primary, primarily," he joked, chuckling at the play on words. "But I used to tend as well, and I started my lofty career aspirations as a sailor." Archie shrugged as if it fit right into the conversation.

"Aye? In England?" The accent was slight, but still rather distinctive. He couldn't place where in England, but it was fairly clear to him that Kennedy was English, if nothing else.

Kennedy shook his head. "No, no, I taught in a little town called Aberliath in the realm of Rhy'Din. I've sailed in both places, though the predominance was for England." Feeling a bit like there was nothing better to do than mill around under the mistletoe, Archie shifted from one foot to the other. "How about you? Scotland?"
Re: Chattin' with ScottyallmhadadhDecember 15 2009, 03:48:27 UTC
"Rhy'Din?" Both of Scotty's eyebrows disappeared under his bangs at that. "Really? S'where I live now. I mean, I came from Aberdeen, went inta Starfleet, got bounced t' some other universe, then th' beach... then Rhy'Din."
Re: Chattin' with ScottytwicedisplacedDecember 15 2009, 15:58:03 UTC
"What, really?" Archie was surprised. More than surprised, actually. He knew Rhy'Din was a large realm, but that didn't mean he'd ever met someone else that was familiar. It was unprecedented. "'Some other universe, the beach, Rhy'Din,'" he repeated, ruefully. "Sounds familiar. Happens a lot, I suppose..." Or, at least, it happened a lot around Archie, but since he'd never met Mister Scott before, he had a feeling it was more widespread than he'd initially believed.

"I dinna ken. Seeker an' them said it's the Nexus." Scotty gave Archie a long, curious lookover again, now that he knew the man came from where he himself now was. "Better'n th' beach, though. Things actually live there. Did ye live in th' city, or somewhere else?"
Re: Chattin' with ScottytwicedisplacedDecember 17 2009, 05:40:51 UTC
"I suppose I could say it was in the city." To Archie, London was city. "And I taught in Aberliath -- it's south." Small universe, wasn't it? "And you?"
Re: Chattin' with ScottyallmhadadhDecember 17 2009, 19:20:00 UTC
"Room Sixteen, at th' Red Dragon right now." Scotty chuckled, shaking his head. Small universe indeed. "Work in th' Marketplace, though I do some cross-realm work goin' t' Drasill, an' tend some at th' Red Dragon fer my Wedding Fund."
Archie shook his hand readily, the very picture of holiday spirit. "My name's Archie Kennedy, Scotty," he replied, testing the sound of it. "Good to be in the spirit of things."
