jason update (part 1)

Nov 13, 2005 16:14

seriously this update is going to take a loooooooong time so i'll break it into segments.

thursday (Day #1)
knowing that jason's plane was arriving at noon, i rushed to ASDA for groceries for his trip (buying sugar cereal, drinks, ROOT BEER!!!!! (i had no idea such a thing existed in London), chicken, pasta, salad, pizza, bread, etc.). after my uneventful trip to ASDA i took the bus back to school and lost my footing and slipped forward dropping my groceries and ramming into the woman in front of me. yikes! but i managed to sorta gracefully get up and get off at my stop w/o any more drama. i bought jason's oyster card (£20 + the £3 fee), took the picadilly line to heathrow and waited eagerly for his arrival. i think i was way too excited cuz i couldn't stand still for the 1/2 hour that i waited so i bought a sm. bag of M&M's (my first since i've been in the UK) and munched rapidly as i stared at the arrival screens. finally jason came through the door and we ran to each other as lovers who have been parted for weeks do. oh the joy of seeing him again was unbelievable. we hugged and kissed and simply held ea. other for what felt like centuries and must have only been minutes. he liked my haircut and i liked his muscle (so strong i almost thought he was gonna squeeze the life out of me!).

i had bought jason a Dr. Pepper so he drank it while we talked to the underground. this is when our first episode of getting lost occured. you would have thought by the way i got lost so much during his trip that i had barely been in london myself. garsh. but we eventually found the underground which is on Level "B" and took the picadilly line to hammersmith.

at hammersmith i took jason to the crepe place and bought him a strawberries & chocolate crepe - quite delicious - and myself a chocolate & bananas crepe. we rested a while as we browsed hammersmith's underground shopping centre and then took the 72 bus back to roehampton where i checked him in as my guest.

that day it was raining (not too hard) so we stayed inside and just talked and hugged (and yes, we kissed). around 5 we made our pizza and salad that i had bought and he prepared his halloween belated surprise. for those of you who didn't know, jason's favorite holiday is halloween and since we missed it together we decided to do it together when he arrived. so he surprised me with costumes and romantic music :-D awwww! my boyfriend is simply AMAZING. the costumes were ... (Drumroll please) Christine & the Phantom of the Opera! oh my gosh - how precious. after dinner we cleaned up our dishes and set up my laptop to watch a halloween movie -- RESIDENT EVIL -- which i thought was actually very good...

tired from the looong day we both zonked out before midnight.

Friday (Day #2)
We got up early, made lunch, and headed off to the train station at Paddington so we could go to STONEHENGE. I bought a ticket thinking I bought 2 tickets (oops!) and so jason had to buy a more expensive ticket to Bath on board the train. We realized it was too pricy to go all the way to Stonehenge so we decided to just enjoy an afternoon in Bath. That turned out to be a great idea since we had lots to see and do there. We went to the Roman Baths which had a great exhibit and was well worth the time/money. We also saw the Jane Austen house (didn't pay for the tour) and I bought my mummy, Jayne Austin, a souvenior and jason bought me a PERSUASION postcard (my favorite Jane Austen book).

After our delightful trip to Bath, jason and i returned to paddington so we could take a tube to covent garden and enjoy our www.lastminute.com dinner & a show for under £20. we had dinner at the ROCK GARDEN in covent garden and saw THE PRODUCERS starring Fred Applegate. Jason thought the show was too corny but i liked it. hopefully he'll still wanna see the movie with me. I think he will since its starring Will Farrell whom he loves.

Saturday (Day #3)
Field trip day - after turning in my paper to the teacher, i enjoyed a 3rd field trip (2 museums and STOMP) with jason at my side. Nigel (my prof.) was nice enough to get jason into the first museum for free and we saw some really interesting paintings. jason liked it a lot but it took me a while longer to get accustomed to them and the artist's style. i did end up buying 2 post cards so i guess that means i ended up liking the artist :) we then went to the National Portrait Gallery where I went through a special exhibit (nothing to brag about) and then jason got in for free to walk around with me and see the other paintings. interestingly enough there was an exhibit, at the beginning of the museum where you can buy tickets for the exhibit, which was a set of tvs that showed a fox running around in the museum at night. art?

after the museum hopping, i took jason to the square and we had lunch and took some photos. then we headed across the millenium bridge and walked to waterloo to pick up our eurostar tickets for monday. we got back to the theatre and saw STOMP with my class. i fell asleep maybe 20 minutes into the show so i guess i didn't particularly care for it that much. the end did fascinate me though. jason however really enjoyed the show so for his sake i'm glad we saw it.

for dinner we made chicken escalopes, corn, salad, and pasta. talk about a feast! :-D we then watched THE CHRISTMAS CAROL (musical) starring Kelsey Grammer before zonking out.

Sunday (Day #3)
jason and i met up with kathy (in the rain) for church at 9:30. we had a guest speaker (christine caine, again) at church and another awesome morning of worship. jason particularly enjoyed the service which made me happy. afterwards we walked down oxford street in order to find a fish and chips place kathy had seen a while back. we finally found it and enjoyed our first fish and chips meal. not bad! after the first few bites i actually enjoyed it :-D and being that i am not a big fish fan that's a big thing :)

we parted w/ kathy and she headed off to covent garden and we went to the london eye (which was delightful!) and jason rode on his first doubledecker bus :-D

Monday (Day #4)
jason and i missed our train from barnes to waterloo by 2 minutes. yikes! we waited for the next train which was scheduled to arrive but it decided not to stop at the station that morning. how rude! so jason and i ran to the bus and to the tube station and to waterloo and ended up missing our eurostar. gosh - what a morning! we bought tickets for the next train and made it this time. phew. we took the eurostar through the chunnel to lillie and then on to disneyland paris.

as a gift to jason, i had bought tickets for 2 nights/3 days to disneyland paris. jason and i are disneyland passholders in CA and it has become a special place for us as a couple so i figured why not? and it turned out to be a great idea.

we took the bus to the SANTA FE HOTEL and checked in to our room. The hotel is cute and was all decorated for the holidays with tinsel, christmas trees, wreaths, etc. after checking into our room, we took the bus to disneyland resort and spent a couple hours in Walt Disney Studios Park (which is similar to California Adventure). The park felt empty and we walked onto every ride we went on. We did the indoor Aerosmith rollercoaster, saw the Moteour Stunt Show (which was awesome), and did the roller coaster stimulator (which features Bill Nye). The park did feature a delightful enclosed entrance where you walk through a studio set that features restaurants, stores and disney cast members.

...more to come tomorrow...

jason
