a total drag king or just a total drag?

so saturday night i dressed in drag because the contests that were held at spin were for both best drag and best costume. i couldn't think of a (good and original) costume to wear and i figured going in drag wouldn't be too difficult. turns out, the only difference between angela on an everyday tuesday and last night's anthony the italian stallion (yeah...sick...i know) is that angela is pretty busty and only a little bit fury. yeah, if you are a DD and are yet to bind your boobs down with masking tape over a sport's bra, i suggest you try. you're in for a night of restricted breathing and persistent lumpiness! i went by anthony because it was the name my parents would have given me had i been born with a twig!

it wasn't until i was finally dressed that i realized i was anthony the italian stallion (or greasy dago, if you will?). wooow.

i don't want to comment too much on saturday night considering it turned out to be somewhat of a disappointment and i'm in no mood for complaining. no, i didn't win the contest; all three winners were queens. i was amongst one other king, el sancho sabroso. losing the contest has little to do with my disappointment, instead the display of male domination within a queer space is really what set me off. in many cases lesbians, queer women, drag kings, FTM, etc. are in the minority within these spaces and are consequently silenced. the hostess barely acknowledged our existence (and at one point actually forgot to call my name...) and the attention was focused entirely on the queens. please note that the queens were amazing...all who participated...that is not what this is about at all. it's just discouraging to feel invisible in what is supposed to be a safe, equal, and empowering space for me...

oh well. at least i had a tiny crowd of fans...one whom i am particularly excited about. and, at the end of the day, what does it matter? we're always in drag anyway, right?

with that said, i should satisfy my heavy eyes and get some sleep. later!
