‘Hello? Is anybody there? Guys? Hello! I know you guys are out there! Guys? This is not funny. Don’t scare me!’ called Ryeowook as he glanced around an empty, dark corridor.
Ryeowook pulled open the nearest door only to fall into a dark abyss. ‘AHHHH!’ screamed Ryeowook as he sunk downwards.
‘Ryeowook! Wake up!’ said a worried Kangin as he switched on the lights.
‘H-hyung! Oh I’m so glad it was all a bad dream. I’m sorry I woke you up. Go back to sleep hyung. I’m okay.’ gasped Ryeowook.
‘Ya Wookie, if you’re gonna have nightmares whenever you watch horror movies, I’m gonna tell Teukie hyung that I want a new roommate.’ groaned a wary Kangin before flicking the light switch.
‘I’m sorry.’ apologised Ryeowook before heaving a sigh.
Ryeowook was still shaken as he climbed out of his bed to get a glass of water. ‘Ryeowookie, are you okay? I heard a scream.’ questioned a worried Leeteuk before pulling his boyfriend into his arms.
‘Hyung. You scared me. I’m okay. I just need a glass of water.’ whispered Ryeowook for fear of waking the rest of the dorm.
‘Go sit on the couch. I’ll get the water for you.’
Ryeowook obediently went over to the couch and sank into it, pondering over nightmare. He was so absorbed in his thoughts that he didn’t hear Leeteuk’s footsteps, giving himself a third fright of the night.
‘Wookie, why are you so jumpy?’ inquired a concerned Leeteuk as he rythmically stroke Ryeowook’s back.
‘Hyung, it’s nothing really.’
‘If you’re not going to tell me, I can’t help you can I? If you’re not willing to tell me, then I’ll simply have to wait till you’re ready.’ whispered Leeteuk before planting a kiss on Ryeowook’s forehead.
‘Thank you.’
---
‘Donghae, can you please do me a favour?’ asked Leeteuk as he pulled out his chair.
‘Of course.What is it?’
‘Well, how should I put it? It’s about Ryeowook. It seems like he’s hiding something from me… Every night he wakes up screaming from his nightmares. But when I ask him what are his nightmares about, he refuses to tell me what are they about… I’m just very worried about him. Can you help me console Ryeowook? Or at least try and get him to tell you what are his nightmares about? Please?’ begged Teukie.
‘Sure. I’ll try and help but I can’t garuantee he’ll open up to me.’ warned Donghae.
‘It’s okay as long as you try.’ reassured Leeteuk.
Donghae waited till he had a chance to be alone before tackling the task given to him by his hyung. Finally as the day was about to end, Kangin approached Donghae.
‘Ya! Donghae, switch rooms with me. I’m sick and tired of waking up in the middle of the night just because Ryeowook has nightmares…’
‘I’ve told Teukie hyung and he said it’s okay as long as you agree. Change rooms with me. I can’t stand Ryeowook anymore! Anyway, it’s settled. I’ve done you a favour and brought your things over and mine to your room. Don’t need to thank me for that.’
Donghae just nodded as he thought about what his hyung told him in the morning.Ah might as well. I think it’ll be easier to talk if we were roommates… ‘Ryeowook ah. It seems like we’ll be roommates now. Isn’t that a good thing?’ asked an overly excited Donghae.
‘I guess but I feel so bad. I’ll end up waking you… I’ll understand if you don’t want to be my roommate. You can have the room. I’ll sleep in the living room’
‘Ryeowookie, don’t be silly. It’s okay. I have difficulty sleeping at night so it won’t matter.’
‘That’s even worse! You can barely sleep and if I wake you when you’ve just fallen asleep? No you’ll have the room and-‘
‘Kim Ryeowook I’m your roommate and that’s final. Come on. Let’s have a nice bowl of ramen to celebrate.’
‘Thanks Donghae.’
The duo set off to the kitchen and made a bowl of ramen while Eeteuk watched silently from the crack in the door. He was so engrossed in watching how happy Ryeowook was that he didn’t even hear Kangin approach. ‘Ya! Kim YoungWoon! You scared me! Don’t ever creep up on me again.’ yelled a shocked Eeteuk as he slapped Kangin’s hand away.
'Teukie hyung!' slurred a drunken Kangin. 'Let's go back and sleep!'
'Why did you drink till you’re so drunk again! There's schedule tomorrow!' Leeteuk started his lecture but was stopped by Kangin who forced his lips on his.
Leeteuk attempted pushing Kangin by hitting on the chest. It didn’t work. So he tried asking him to stop again but was momentarily distracted when Kangin slung a muscular arm around his waist and the other over the nape of his neck.
‘Ah, Eeteukie hyung, you’re enjoying this aren’t you? I know you are. I can see it in you’re eyes.Don’t deny it. I know you want me.’ purred Kangin before forcing his lips once again on his hyung.
It progressed deeper as Kangin forced his tongue into Leeteuk’s mouth. Leeteuk’s mind screamed no but his body simply didn’t listen to his mind and returned the kiss. Kangin’s kiss was different from Ryeowook. With Ryeowook, making out was like swimming against a current. But with Kangin, it was as like running freely down a hill. Much more passionate. Leeteuk didn’t want the kiss to end.
‘Park JungSoo! You have a boyfriend! You can’t be frenching Kangin!’ admonished the angel in Leeteuk’s mind.
‘Teukie ah. You know how you love Kangin’s touch on your skin. Admit it. Just his touch alone makes your skin tingle.’ coaxed the devil
‘Don’t listen to the devil. He’ll-‘
‘Enough!’ shouted Leeteuk after he finally found strength to push Kangin off.
‘Kangin, I have a boyfriend and you know it! Go wash up or I’ll throw you out of the room!’ threatened Leeteuk before leaving the room.
---
That night, after Donghae and Ryeowook finished their bowl of ramen, they decided to have a pillow fight to work off the extra calories gained from their supper. It was way past midnight before they ended their games. The two had wanted to continue on but was stopped by an irate Leeteuk who came in saying it was late. Before he left their room, he gently pecked Ryeowook on the lips. For some reason, Donghae felt as if his heart had been stabbed.
Ryeowook watched Donghae’s facial expression change. He didn’t want Donghae to feel sad so he thought for awhile. He got it. ‘Donghae, can you sleep in the same bed as me tonight? I’m afraid if I close my eyes, I’d see bad things again. Please?’
‘Sure.’
The light in Donghae’s eyes were once again relighted at Ryeowook’s request. The two squeezed in the bed and for the first time in many days, Ryeowook sleeped without dreaming. Peace was within them and even Donghae slept peacefully. In the other room, the atmosphere was tense. While Kangin snored in his sleep, Leeteuk was kept awake thinking about the kiss he shared with his roommate. While on one hand, he felt guilty for involunteeringly cheating on his boyfriend, on the other he thought about how true the devil in his mind was. He did like Kangin paying extra attention to him.
--
The next morning, Leeteuk was still feeling guilty for kissing back Kangin. Shoving the guilty thoughts out of his mind, he slipped off his bed and headed to the kitchen. He was greeted with the sight of his dongsaengs sitting at the dining table, happily munching on their cereal.
‘Wookie, how did it go last night? Still having nightmares?’ asked Leeteuk before sitting down beside Ryeowook and mouthing a thank you to Donghae.
‘Great!’ giggled Ryeowook as he continued munching on his breakfast.
‘With Donghae hyung, all the nightmares were gone. Amazing isn’t it?’
‘I’m glad to hear that.’
Leeteuk was clearly relieved to hear that something was going well. His smile drooped a notch or two when Kangin made his appearance. Kangin, I’m gonna pray hard that you were so drunk last night that you won’t recall what happened. If you did, I can only again pray that you keep your mouth shut.
‘Good morning hyung!’ chirped Donghae.
‘How was last night? I bet you’ve fallen in love with my bed now and you’re gonna hog on to it right? I can sell it to you cheap.’
Kangin playfully punched Donghae’s arm as his reply for the comment.
Leeteuk took it as his cue to answer. ‘Yeah, it was alright I guess.’ Leeteuk stiffened at Kangin’s grin.
‘Nope. I thought it was better than alright. It was awesome!’
‘Sure…’ said Leeteuk dismissively before giving a forced smile.
