‘Sungmin! Where are you?’ cried Ryeowook into his cell phone.
‘Calling for him won’t work. You should know that I won’t be as stupid as to leave him his phone right? Tsk tsk I thought you would have known by now how smart I am. Run along now. You’re left with fifty minutes.’ warned Yesung.
Fifty minutes… Time was running out. Sungmin! Hang in there. Kyuhyun, Shindong, if you’re out there somewhere, I really need your help.
---
Shindong motioned to follow but Kyuhyun stopped him. ‘Hyung, slow down. We still haven’t come up with a plan.’
‘You’re right… I’m sorry. It’s just that I’m so worried for the two of them.’
‘I know. I’m worried too. I thought about it. Somehow, I don’t think Yesung really did hide Sungmin in the abandoned dorms. Tell you what. I’ll find Siwon while you continue tailing them. Keep your phone in silent mode.’
‘Okay. Hurry!’ whispered Shindong before slowly moving towards deserted building.
All was silent as Shindong stepped into the dorms. He smelt blood which didn’t bode well. With his strong sense of smell, he followed the scent, trusting his instinct that it was a clue to Sungmin’s whereabouts. Eventually, Shindong was in front of a portable toilet. Hesitantly, he pulled open the door. He was greeted with a bound and gagged Sungmin.
‘Sungmin! Don’t worry. I’ll get Ryeowook here immediately.’ said Shindong as he pulled out his phone.
‘Mmmmm! Mmmmm!’
‘Oh right! I forgot to untie you. Hang on. I’m calling Ryeowook and Kyuhyun.’
‘Mmmmm! Mmmmm!’ repeated Sungmin
‘Alright. Alright. I’ll untie you. Sheesh! You’ve really got to learn to be patient!’
Shindong rushed to untie Sungmin but Sungmin kept struggling, as if to get as far away from Shindong. Sungmin willed Shindong with all his might to look into his eyes and understand him. He glanced first at Shindong and pointed his eyes to himself making it look as if he went crossed eyed. As if by magic, Shindong understood and removed the gag.
‘Shindong! Pl-please. F-fi-nd Ryeowook and tell him t-that there’s a bomb in the dorms.’ gasped Sungmin.
‘WHAT?! There’s a bomb the deserted dorms?! What’s wrong Yesung?’ exclaimed an alarmed Shindong.
Shindong quickly released Sungmin and helped him up. ‘Sungmin, I’ll need to call Kyuhyun. Can you sit on the benches?’ asked Shindong as he aided Sungmin over.
Shindong pulled out his cell phone and dialed. ‘Kyuhyun, we have a huge problem. According to Sungmin, Yesung’s planted a bomb in the deserted dorms! I think he’s planning to die with Ryeowook. You think Ryeowook still has his phone with him?’
‘Only one way to find out. Anyway, Siwon said that while he was dating Yesung, he had these weird tendencies too but according to him, Yesung was not as extreme as this. Siwon said that Yesung was once on anti depressants. Maybe he forgot to eat his medicine. I’ll run by the dorms to find it while you try and contact Wookie.’ replied Kyuhyun before shutting his phone.
Shindong reassured Sungmin that Ryeowook would be saved before making a dash for the deserted building. ‘Kim Yesung, I know you’re here! You better not harm Ryeowook in any way or you’ll be so dead!’
The only response Shindong got was an evil cackle. This aggravated Shindong and spurred him on.
---
‘Why little Ryeowookie, you’ve certainly been really disobedient. I thought I told you not to ask for help?! Now you’ve done it. I’ll let you in on a little secret. I’ve hidden a bomb in the building but not your beloved Sungmin. It’s gonna blow in half an hour’s time. Oh don’t try to run. I’ve placed this entire building on lock down. We’re going to die together!’ shrieked Yesung.
NO! Yesung has got to be lying! Minnie must be here! There can’t possibly be a bomb… Wait. Why isn’t it possible? Yesung did take up a job on an action movie set before… No! He wouldn’t. It’s not possible. He can’t possibly want to die. I don’t want to die! I’m too young to die. ‘I don’t believe you,’ said Ryeowook quietly as he got over his internal struggle.
Yesung simply laughed before dancing around while repeating the words “we’re going to die together, together and forever.” A disbelieving Ryeowook pulled out his phone to call for help as a call from Shindong came in, throwing all caution to the wind.
‘Hello? Shindong, thank God! Where-‘
‘You are so naughty! What am I ever to do with you?’ questioned Yesung as he grabbed the phone and threw it on the floor, crushing it with his heel.
Now Ryeowook was mad beyond words. He charged at Yesung who easily stopped him and threw him to the ground. Ryeowook slowly picked himself up before he was crushed by Yesung’s weight. Yesung sat on top Ryeowook which effectively stopped him from moving an inch. Wookie sensed that struggling against Yesung was a fighting a losing battle. He stopped.
---
‘Ryeowook! Ryeowook! Answer me! Damn it!’ cursed Shindong after receiving no response.
As he urged his tired body on, he once again called Kyuhyun. ‘Damn it. Ryeowook can be so careless at times. Hyung, I couldn’t find his medication and I have a gut feeling that Yesung either flushed it all down the drain or he ate them all. Anyhow, I’m nearly at the dorms now. Have you found Ryeowook yet?’
‘About that, well, all I can hear now are Yesung’s evil laughter and occasional screams. Kyu hurry over. Please!’
---
The young boy fell silent, awaiting the elder to let his guard down before attempting anything else. Yesung didn’t stop. He pulled out a pen knife and ripped Ryeowook’s shirt off his torso. Slowly, he brought the torture device down to the youth’s smooth skin. As the cold metal touched his skin at the small of his back, Ryeowook knew that one false move and he would be spewing blood everywhere. He bit down on his lower lip as he waited for the moment to pass and Shindong to come to his rescue...
Ryeowook turned around to look at the damage. His lower back now had Yesung’s name carved in with scarlet blood glistening brightly on the surface, as if to mock him for his defeat. With all the strength that remained in him, Ryeowook picked up the pen knife that Yesung threw aside previously. Yesung had resumed his previous chant as he danced around the room.
‘Hyung, you’re a very cruel person. Why can’t we have remained friends? I don’t want to… but you… you’ve hurt me time and again.’ sobbed a now very wary Ryeowook.
Before Yesung had a chance to open his mouth, Shindong came flying in and had him pinned down within seconds. ‘Kim Yesung, you are so dead! If you wanna die, go die by yourself! You’re crazy! What nonsense is this about the bomb? Trying to be funny aren’t you? Well, I’ve checked the place and there is no bomb! You’re a liar you are.’ yelled Shindong as he punched Yesung with each word.
Yesung, again merely snickered as if the punches Shindong threw inflicted no pain. Ignoring the nagging feeling that chilled the back of his neck, Shindong went over to piggyback Ryeowook. Yesung’s snickering got louder with each movement. ‘Shut up you asshole! Seriously, shut up!’ bellowed Shindong as he moved towards the door.
‘Shindongdong, you are wrong on many counts. There is a bomb, it is in the building. Well, more specifically, it’s on me. It seems-‘
Kyuhyun entered in the nick of time and managed to knock Yesung out with a fire extinguisher he picked up on his way in. Together, they left Yesung behind and ran with whatever strength that was left within them. They made it as far as to Sungmin’s bench before Yesung awoken to find everybody gone…
Why? Why must everybody all leave me? I just want to be loved… Nobody loves me. Siwon, Ryeowook you all left me. What’s the point of living with no one that reciprocates my love? Love… Is it really too much to ask for love? I loved those people with all heart but they paid me back by leaving… Maybe I should leave and see how they feel.

It has been a year since the horrible incident. Although everybody claimed that they’ve forgotten all that happened, their scars serve as painful reminders. Ryeowook and Sungmin broke up but remained as best friends. It was a mutual understanding between the two boys knowing the memory would still haunt their dreams no matter how strong their relationship was. Ryeowook and Shindong are now roommates who truly looked out for each other and were going out for a double date with Sungmin and Kyuhyun. As for Yesung, nobody heard anything from him. Some said he killed himself. Others said he was taken away to a mental instate. No one has heard as much as a whisper from the specter that haunted their dreams. For all they know, he might be right behind them, waiting to exact his revenge.
The End.
