Hi all!

Okay, this might come off as more than a little bi***y, but this is the kind of fic I'm looking for because I'm all angsty and stuff, and I *really* hope someone can point me in that direction.

very specific fic request : Spoiler for Cyberwoman )

It's been forever since I read this, but I think this might be a little way up your street. I can't remember the extent of the 'I'm not taking your BS' from Ianto, but I know he gets a new fella and Jack has to really, really work to get Ianto back.

I'm going to read it again myself, since your post reminded me of it! It's the first of three stories, and it's called 'Attrition' by lazuli_kat. Find it here: http://www.btinternet.com/~lazuli.kat/tw_warning_page.htm

Oh if you've never read Attrition, you need to set aside a weekend, because you can't stop reading it, and it's very long!! She's posted a new ending as well, which is brilliant.

Read it via her LJ entry about how she has written these extra bits, as I'm not sure if the original link contains them. Here..

Oh and by the way, don't read the comments on that link! the article bit doesn't have spoilers, but the comments all talk about the end, and you really don't want to spoil this story.

*Grin* after all the recs I got to this post, and the number of times i've seen it recced, I decided to sit down and read it. I started at ten thirty today morning, it's now almost three, and I just finished. *giggle* Now I need food before I topple over *facepalm*. And you were right, it is gorgeous, and I couldn't stop reading it. Now I've to go read the extra bits!
Thank you so much!
Love,
LM

If you didn't read the new ending, you will like it much better!

She does uber angst like no one else. Ache in your chest angst. If you feel like really putting yourself on an emotional rollercoaster, read Hourglass. It's linked on her site, or from the LJ, and it's definitely the most emotional experience I had reading any sort of fan fiction. It was so extreme that Lazuli about halfway through had to offer a spoiler free email to reassure people who were genuinely upset! I was very upset, but stuck with it, and it was fine. It's not gratuitous, or anything like that, or purple prose or OTT, it's purely the way she gets the emotions across, and the situation, which is heartbreaking, but really worth it. I remember having to stop for little cries, and to try and breathe, that sort of thing! It also features a really strong Ianto, who in this one is looking after Jack..

Oh, I agree. I liked the original one better.

And yes, she does. I found myself having difficulty breathing while reading some bits, and everytime I thought of it after. Yeah. I mean, sometimes it's really nice to find a subtle piece of writing that really pulls at the heartstrings. And god, she does it so easily. *shakes head* I wish I had that talent... And god, I love it when he's strong. Have you read Reclaiming Camelot by Tanarian? Because, yes. Strong Ianto. And Shades of Ianto. God. I love these fics.

Yes both of those are great and also ate a lot of my time as they are unputdownable!

I meant I liked the new ending better! I realised my comment was vaguely worded. ..
