man... we're 43 this year. mid-life crisis, anyone. :P but i guess it's kinda cool that my parents/grandparents are older than the country, lol. it also explains why my grandma has a British subject passport (cos we were still a colony when Grandma was born!) anyhoo, Jacq has informed me that Nathan Hartono is going to sing the opening song for today's parade and therefore i have complete incentive to watch it now. XD (Sheryl, stop sniggering >_>)
got a lovely early bday postcard from Jacq today and thank you for not writing in a circle like we used to in SC (rotfl), because ayam old now and will be blinded. and yes i cannot wait for you to come back for Singapore's F1 GP! <3
watched the Olympic Games opening ceremony yesterday. didn't watch the part that Zhang Yimou directed cos i was out to dinner, but i loved watching each country's contingent come out (except for the ones that sent hordes of people O_O cos they took forever to parade). and i think it's really cool that the 3 languages being used are French, English and Chinese because i can understand all of them (okay, i'm lying about the French). Liu Xi's speech made alot of sense and Jacques Rogge kinda just summarised it briefly in English/French. XD the part that got me all emo was the last lap of the torch relay. it was really nice watching all the past great Chinese athletes hand the torch over to each other, especially the last guy - Li Ning, who is apparently one of the best gymnasts they've had. i guess he prolly competed when i was too tiny to remember cos my parents seem to know who he is. but anyway, whoever came up with the idea of him "running" the last lap on the wall of the Bird's Nest was absolutely fantastic. i was bawling my eyes out by the time he lit the torch, although at first when the line of fuel lit up i thought it had exploded by accident or something! O_O but it was very pretty. :) AYAM SO PROUD TO BE CHINESE! *weeps* srsly. i've only been there once but i'm really really proud that they're hosting the Olympics. my ancestors did come from China after all (i just don't know when). in fact, i shall create its tag in Chinese. XD
anyway, i signed up for the exchange buddy thingy again this term and my buddy's a Swiss-German dude. i'm only in contact with him via email now and it's quite erratic cos the internet at his hostel sucks, and he may or may not have activated his autoroam so i don't know why he hasn't been replying to my texts. but er he has my number, so i trust that he'll call me and scream if he really needs help. :X i'm such a bad friend but i can't contact him so what else can i do?! {
sigh. just watched the men's gymnastics qualifying. my god they are buff. too scary for me. the Spanish team is pretty hot though. and one of them did one of the best floor routines i've ever seen. although there was a young boy who looked like he was gonna cry cos he screwed up a little and banged his ankle on the high bar. poor thing. :( the Israeli dude has really pretty eyes too. :D too bad i don't have digital cable so i can't watch the extra 6 channels they have for the Olympics and am stuck with the limited coverage provided by local tv. it's not too bad la i guess. tmr's swimming (omgah hot guyz) and badminton (go Singapore!). it's kinda sad how Ian Thorpe won't be competing anymore. i quite liked him. :( and Inge de Bruijn! why have they all retired! :(((
omgah i can't wait for diving too. and beach volleyball! and er idk what else i'll end up watching too XD
/ramble :X
and just because it's National Day...
because we just love the musical propaganda we were taught in primary school. XD
