As in every video I've seen from TYT, Cenk Uygur is dead on. However, this blog post isn't really about the video. It's about the comments section and allll the rampant sexism therein. See, politicians and political comedians are throwing the words slut and cunt around just for funsies/too undermine the credibility of female politicians. And that's bullshit. But the entire comment section on Cenk's feminist approved video is a bunch of misogynistic drivel about who the fuck cares. So I pointed out if you're using the word cunt to derogatorily refer to a woman you are being a misogynist. There is no middle ground.
But of course this is teh internetz! And there be menz on teh internetz! And teh menz really want to be able to call teh wimminz (and other menzes, of course) cunts. Shocker. So I got dragged into pathetic youtube "debate" with a dudebro douche canoe named AmericanNohbuddy who's main argument is basically "cunt isn't sexist because some people are cunts and also ass means donkey and it's just slang and nuance so it doesn't mean anything plus obviously words that literally mean 'vagina' aren't gendered and you're sexist and why don't you agree with me?"
Convincing, no? I mean, he really didn't understand why I "didn't get it." And he was mansplaining sexism to me. To me. Like, seriously dudebro? You're calling me sexist because I am pointing out intstitutionalized oppression against women that manifests itself in our language? What the fuck? I mean, I guess I sort of "get it." I am a woman. And you are a MAN. And you are a SPLAININ'!!! (and yes, I did just plagiarize Zuska). In fact our ENTIRE EXCHANGE can petty much be summed up in dramatized ragecomic format. The only thing missing is me feeling like I've just spent my time beating my head on a brick wall.
But then I remembered this lovely bit of femsexy goodness. Yay cunts!
And so pointless story less pointless, I'm thinking of changing my tumblr url to either "cuncipotent" (all power, ie having cunt magic) or "cunnus diaboli" ("devilish cunt.").
Also, I am totally going to write a poem about my vagina and post it here. Because I can.
