consider the ravens by dustin kensrue

i really love this song, but its all....religousy. and that's so not me. so i changed some of the words (rewrites in green, original lyrics) and i think it  was for the better--it certainly lines up with my personal lifeview a little better (i.e.: do it yourself, don't wait for god).

i've got bills to pay
taxman on my tail
just keep hopin’ that
the check's in the mail

there are times it seems
when everything's lost
and I’m moaning, I'm tossed
and I see…

between the river and the ravens I fled
between oblivion and the blazes I tread
in search of faith, hope love and grace
between the river and the ravens I fled
sweet discover, oh I lift up my head
and lead my own way

i’ve grown sick and tired
of trying to stand still
but I can’t let the wind
blow me where it will

pull myself out of
the jail cell of fate
one day I will be great
great and free

between the river and the ravens I fled
between oblivion and the blazes I tread
in search of faith, hope love and grace
between the river and the ravens I fled
dweet discover, oh I lift up my head
and lead my own way

though I'm walking through
the valley of the shadow of death
evil's all around
it's coming from the right and the left

trust that I will see
the stars up above
oh, a lyric of love
singing for me

between the river and the ravens I fled
between oblivion and the blazes I tread
in search of faith, hope love and grace
between the river and the ravens I fled
sweet discover, oh I lift up my head
and lead my own way

between the river and the ravens I fled
sweet discover, oh I lift up my head
and lead my own way
