Summary:
Higher gods and younger gods and goddesses used to live in peace and work together but a prophecy divided them.
The higher gods are now hunting for their mortal children to destroy them while the younger gods and goddesses, through their sons: the minor gods, protect the demigods.
Ueda Tatsuya is the son of the higher god Kimura Takuya and is the main target of his father. Nishikido Ryo is leader of the minor gods and together with the others, it is their duty to protect Tatsuya and the other demigods and keep them alive.
Author's Note: This story was inspired by the Percy Jackson book series and I am Number 4. Italicized text = flashback.

Under the moonlit night, a man and a boy travelled the sky in a golden chariot. The boy clings to his father as the wind blew on his face as they began their descent. They landed on a cliff overlooking a small village and the boy wondered what his father's business is at that foreign place and why he had to tag along.
"Papa, what are we doing here?" the boy finally asked.
"Ryo, remember when I told you before that you will be a guardian of someone very important?" his father asked and the boy nodded.
"It is the time for you to finally meet him. He is much younger than you right now but there will come a time when you will stop aging and he will not. Because of this, there will be a possibility that he'll be older than you when you grow up." Takizawa told his son.
The young boy is 7 and he's one of the minor gods of Mount Eidolo. He is the only son of Takizawa Hideaki, god of the sky and ruler of the younger gods, and Fukuda Kyoko, goddess of family. Being the son of Takizawa, Ryo was named as the leader of the minor gods. A duty he did not want but had to accept.
Takizawa held his son's hand and led him down the cliff and into the village. They quietly walked and passed several houses then stopped in front of a small bungalow.
The front yard was full of colorful flowers and Ryo and his father continued to walk on the pathway leading to the front door then knocked on it.
"Papa, who are we meeting?" Ryo asked but the door opened and a middle aged woman answered them.
She was beautiful. Ryo thought she was a goddess but the lack of glow told him she was human. She has long brown hair, a perfect nose, hazelnut brown eyes and red rose lips. She looked surprised when she saw them but she knows why they were there. She let them in and told them to wait as she disappears to go to another room.
Ryo looked around the house. Everything was simple and cozy. Just by looking at it, he knows that is a good home. He was about to ask his father if he can explore the house when the woman reemerges carrying a boy who was asleep. Takizawa let go of Ryo's hand and walked behind the woman to see the little boy's face. He put his hand on the boy's cheeks and caressed them.
"He turns 5 today." Takizawa said.
"Yes." The mother confirmed.
"You know what this means, right?" Takizawa asked.
"Yes, I'm prepared."
"I'm sorry you have to do this."
"I'll do anything just to keep my son alive." The woman said.
"It is unfair that only you have to make the sacrifice."
"I understand this curse. Just think of the other children if all the women have to go through this."
Takizawa didn't say anything. It was already too late to regret.
"Promise me you'll keep him alive." the woman said.
"Until the time comes that the prophecy unfolds." Takizawa said.
"Keep him out of danger."
"My son will make sure he's safe." Takizawa said and pointed at Ryo.
The woman looked at the young Ryo with pleading eyes.
"I know you're young but I also know you are powerful. Keep my little Tatsuya safe and let him know I love him." the woman told Ryo.
"I will make sure your son knows of your sacrifice." Takizawa said.
The god of the sky walked back in front of the woman to take the sleeping boy. Before completely giving his son to the god, the woman gave his son one final kiss then handed him over to Takizawa. The god carried the boy with its head resting on his shoulders, still sleeping.
"I don't want to do this." Takizawa said with pain in his voice.
"But you have to."
"I won't make it painful."
Takizawa carried the boy with one arm and reached for the mother's heart with his other hand. He looked into the mother's eyes with regret.
"Even if my heart stops beating, I will always love my little Tatsuya."
Those were the woman's last words. Takizawa let out a deathly flow of electricity from his hand and in a moment, the beautiful woman standing in front of them was lying on the floor, lifeless. Her body began to disintegrate and turn into ashes which the wind blew away. Ryo stood behind his father, shocked of what just happened.
"Papa, was that woman our enemy?" Ryo asked.
"No, Ryo. She's someone we should look up to. She did the greatest sacrifice just to keep this boy alive and it is now your duty to protect him." Takizawa said.
"Who is this boy, papa? And how am I supposed to protect him."
"This boy is the son of the god of all gods, Kimura Takuya. This is Ueda Tatsuya. It is your duty to make sure that his father doesn't find him and kill him until the time comes that the prophecy will be fulfilled." Takizawa said.
The god of sky took his son's hand and they went out of the house together with Tatsuya. The little boy was still asleep. He has no idea that his mother is gone and that he's being taken away by a god. Before they leave the village, Takizawa summoned a big lightning to burn down and destroy the house. After that, the three of them left and travelled the night sky.
It was a short ride from the village and their destination. They were now in another village that looks modern and has more houses. Takizawa landed their chariot on the backyard of the person they were going to meet. Even if it was late, this house had its lights on. Takizawa walked towards the door and even before he can knock, it opened and they were greeted by another woman.
"Takizawa-sama, I thought you would never come." The woman said.
"I'm sorry to keep you waiting, Kamenashi-san." Takizawa said.
"Is this the boy? Is this Ueda Mariko's son?" she asked the god.
"Yes, this is Ueda Tatsuya."
"And who is this other boy?" Kamenashi asked when she saw Ryo standing beside his father.
"This is my son, Ryo. He will be Tatsuya's guardian." Takizawa said.
Kamenashi Mikako looks a little older than Ueda Mariko but she was also beautiful. When Takizawa said that Ryo is Tatsuya's guardian, she understood. Her son, Kamenashi Kazuya, also has one. His son's guardian is Uchi Hiroki, the son of Matsumoto Jun, god of beauty and desire, and Inoue Mao, goddess of love and passion.
Kamenashi-san led the god and the two boys inside the house. She showed Takizawa the room where Tatsuya will be staying. His son Kazuya was also in the same room sleeping. Just like Tatsuya, Kazuya is also a son of one of the higher gods. He is the son of Sakamoto Masayuki, God of Light. It has been decided by the younger gods that it will be safe for Tatsuya to stay and be raised by Kamenashi Mikako. The protection that Kamenashi-san's husband provides is much stronger compared to the husbands of the other women who bore the sons of the other higher gods because the love between Kamenashi Mikako and his husband is strong and pure.
"Is--is Mariko...gone?" Kamenashi-san asked when she and the god were back in the living room.
"Yes, she has done the sacrifice." Takizawa said.
Tears formed in Kamenashi-san's eyes. Ueda Mariko was a great mother and friend. She knows Mariko loved Tatsuya the most.
"She should've married." Kamenashi-san said.
"Even if she did, you know that the bond the god of gods have with her is so strong that no ordinary man can break it."
Kamenashi didn't say anything and just cried.
There are five higher gods in Mount Eidolo. Joshima Shigeru, the god of water; Nakai Masahiro, the god of air; Nagase Tomoya, the god of fire; Sakamoto Masayuki, the god of light; and the god of all gods, the god of earth and time, Kimura Takuya. Six years ago, the 5 gods came down from Mount Eidolo to search for women who will bear their child. Two of these women were Kamenashi Mikako and Ueda Mariko. The gods dressed up as ordinary humans and spent the night with the woman they found beautiful. These women only found out the real identity of the gods when they got pregnant. The gods told them that their sons will be protected and showered with gifts and will someday have the chance to live in Mount Eidolo.
This was until the prophecy was foreseen 4 years ago.
All the gods of Mount Eidolo were gathered at the palace to celebrate the coming of a new year. It was a lavish feast with food and music. Before the clock strikes 12, Aiba Masaki, god of prophecies, collapsed. His wife, Yamano Yuri, goddess of Music and Poetry rushed to his side. As everyone gathered around the unconscious god to check on him, he began to speak.
The higher gods must be prepared, their sons will bring despair.
It has been decided,they'll be overthrown and demigods will claim their throne.
Death is the only way this change of power will be put to rest,
But war and division among gods will be the ultimate test.
The gods ang goddesses all have horrified looks on their faces. Kimura Takuya gathered all the gods, high and young to the throne room.
"WHAT IS THIS PROPHECY ALL ABOUT? EXPLAIN IT TO ME!" Kimura Takuya was in rage. He held the half conscious Aiba by his clothes.
"My lord, please, Aiba is still recovering from the things he has foreseen!" Takizawa said and the god of all gods let go of Aiba.
Kimura sat on his throne and called on Domoto Tsuyoshi, god of war.
"Where is your wife?" Kimura asked Tsuyoshi
"Reiko and the other goddesses brought the children to their rooms, my lord." Tsuyoshi replied.
"TAGUCHI!" Kimura called for the messenger and he arrived a few seconds after.
"Yes, my lord? What can I do for you?" Taguchi bowed and kneeled in front of the god.
"Look for Takagaki and tell her I need her."
"As you wish, my lord."
Taguchi disappeared and after a few minutes, he entered the throne room with the goddess of health, Takagaki Reiko.
"Help him recover faster. I want my questions to be answered as soon as possible." Kimura said once he saw Takagaki.
The goddess stood by Aiba's side. She held out her hands and said some enchantments. In a moment, the god of prophecies regained his strength.
"Aiba, explain this prophecy." Kimura demanded.
Aiba took a deep breath. All eyes in the throne room were focused on him and they kept silent to hear his interpretations.
"My lord, the prophecy says that the mortal sons you've fathered will be the cause of your downfall." Aiba said.
"My downfall?"
"Yes, my lord. Your and the other higher god's downfall."
"This is not possible!" Nagase said, anger can be seen in his eyes.
"Liar!" Nakai added.
"I'm sorry, my lords, the prophecy never lies. You of all gods should know that." Aiba said.
Nagase and Nakai wanted to attack Aiba but they were stopped by Kimura.
"There is no other choice." Kimura said.
"What do you mean, my lord?" Sakurai Sho, god of wisdom and strategy, asked.
"We will get rid of the children." Kimura said.
Everyone whispered about the announcement.
"I believe I cannot let you do that, my lord." Takizawa said and everyone fell silent.
"And why is that, Takizawa? They are our sons. We can do anything we want to them."
"No, my lord. These boys are innocent and I will not let you take their lives just because you want to keep your power."
Kimura Takuya and Takizawa Hideaki stared at each other’s eyes. Takizawa was serious. He is the kind of man that won't let anyone die because of someone else's selfishness.
"If that is the case...my friends" Kimura Takuya looked at the other higher gods and they understood what the god of all gods want.
They all got ready for battle. They took out their weapons and were on fighting stance. All of the younger gods stood on the other side of the throne room and did the same. Takizawa headed them and on his side were Domoto Koichi, god of darkness and Tsuyoshi. Together, the Domoto brothers become the Masters of death.
"Is this what you want, Takizawa? A division between the gods of Mount Eidolo?" Kimura asked.
"I do not want any of these but I believe we have different opinions on how to handle this prophecy." Takizawa said.
"Even if you beat us by numbers, remember that the higher gods will always be the mightiest." Joshima Shigeru, god of water, said.
"The prophecy has spoken, a war will take place." Sakurai Sho said.
Kimura smiled and looked at the younger gods.
"If that is your wish, my friends, It will be done. But for now, we will spare your life. Do you best in protecting our sons but I want to remind you that no matter what, we will always have a connection with them. We will hunt them down and secure our power." Kimura said.
He tapped the other higher gods and together, the five of them left Mount Eidolo.
As soon as the higher gods were gone, Sakurai and Takizawa thought of ways on how to protect the mortal sons of the higher gods, the demigods. Being the wisest of the gods, Sakurai was the one who thought of the plans.
"We have to break the bond between the mothers and the higher gods." Sakurai said.
"How will we do that?" Takizawa asked.
"Through love" Inoue Mao answered.
Takizawa and Sakurai asked Inoue to explain.
"If the mothers of the demigods find a man to love and marry, the bond between them and the higher gods will be destroyed." Inoue said.
“Are you sure about this?” Sakurai asked.
"Yes but for the bonds to completely break, it must be true love. The stronger the love between the mothers of the demigods and the man they choose, the faster the bonds will break and that love will give extra protection to the demigods as they grow up for the higher gods cannot see past it."
"I see the point. What we have to do now is to meet with the mothers and explain to them everything that is to happen."
Takizawa Hideaki travelled with his wife Fukuda,Sakurai Sho and Inoue Mao that same night to gather the mothers of the demigods. Takizawa and Sakurai explained to them the prophecy while Inoue told them about breaking the bond with the higher gods. The mothers were afraid of their sons' future but they were ready to protect them.
Kamenashi Mikako, Nakamaru Rika, Akanishi Hinata and Yamashita Keiko all had plans of marriage. They were all in a relationship and had no problems with love. It was Ueda Mariko who has a problem. She's the only one who doesn't have a man to love.
Before meeting Kimura Takuya and carrying their son, Ueda Mariko was preparing to be a nun. The night she met Kimura was the first and last time she has fallen in love. When she found out she was pregnant, she threw away her dreams of becoming a nun and decided to build a family with the man she loves. That was until she learned that he was a god. Even if the father of her child can't be by her side, she loved him with all her heart and she can never look at another man the same way again.
Takizawa and Sakurai convinced her to look for a man to marry. Sakurai told Inoue to put a spell on Ueda to help her fall in love but Inoue refused.
"Even if I do that, it won't work." Inoue said.
"But her son is the one we need to protect the most. He is the son of Kimura Takuya. He will be targeted by his father." Sakurai said.
"But this woman, she loves the god of all gods and I can see she can never love another man the same way. It is useless. I'm afraid there is no way we can break the bond between the two of them. Her love for him is too strong." Inoue said. Being the goddess of love, she knows what she is saying and Sakurai knows he won't win even if he argues.
"Is there any other way?" Takizawa asked them.
Sakurai sighed. He knows of another way but it will be too much.
"There is another way we can save the boy but it won't be easy.” He finally said.
"What is it?" Takizawa asked.
"The mother's death."
No one spoke. They were too shocked to say something after what they heard.
"Death will destroy all the bonds Ueda-san has with anyone in this world. It is the only way." Sakurai said.
"But what will happen to the boy? Who will take care of him?" Inoue asked.
"Can't we take him to Mount Eidolo and take care of him?" Fukuda asked.
"We cannot do that. Bringing him to Mount Eidolo will be more dangerous than having his mother take him." Takizawa answered his wife.
While the gods and goddesses discussed, Ueda Mariko was in deep thought. He wants to save his son's life but falling in love and marrying another man is impossible.
"I will sacrifice my life for my son." Ueda Mariko finally said.
Everyone looked at her with sympathy.
"Are you sure about this, Ueda-san?" Takizawa asked.
"Yes, anything to save him." she replied.
"But who will take care of your son when you're gone?" Kamenash-san asked.
Ueda Mariko took Kamenashi Mikako's hands and looked at her with pleading eyes.
"Will you take him? Please? Raise him as if he was your own?" Ueda asked, her eyes starting to water.
Kamenashi-san cannot refuse Ueda-san's request so she agreed.
"I will take him. I promise I will treat him as my own son." Kamenashi said.
The gods and goddesses pitied Ueda-san. They want her to spend more time with her son.
"We can let her take care of her son for a few more years." Sakurai said.
"What do you mean?" the mothers asked.
"We have the power to protect and hide their identity from the higher gods but this is only limited. Our enchantments will only be effective until the boy turns 5.
After his fifth birthday, every spell put on him and his mother will be destroyed and they will be easily traced by the higher gods." Sakurai said.
"I accept that. I am willing to give up my life but I want to spend as much time with him as possible." Ueda Mariko said.
With that, the gods and goddesses put the enchantments on the mother and son. Takizawa told Ueda-san that they will meet again as soon as the boy turns five.
After meeting with the mothers, Takizawa and the others made their way back to Mount Eidolo. They were greeted by Sakurai's wife, Mizukawa Asami, goddess of wealth and fortune. She told them that Aiba had a vision. They all hurried to Aiba's room in the palace to hear the interpretation.
"What is it that you've seen?" Sakurai asked.
"Our sons." Aiba said.
"What about our sons?"
"Our sons will be the demigods' guardians. It is their destiny to protect the demigods. Five of the eight minor gods will have to stay by the demigod's side to keep them safe. Ohno and Minami's son, Ryuhei, will be Yamashita Tomohisa's guardian; Tsuyoshi and Takagaki's son, Koki, will be Nakamaru Yuichi's guardian; Sakurai and Mizukawa's son, Yu, will be Akanishi Jin's guardian; Matsumoto and Inoue's son, Hiroki, will be Kamenashi Kazuya's son; and Takizawa and Fukuda's son, Ryo, will be Ueda Tatsuya's guardian. All minor gods will have to train under Murakami Shingo to prepare them for their duties." Aiba said.
"All the guardians, except for Ryo, will be introduced to the demigods in the next year. Because the Ueda's are bound by the enchantmens of the gods, we won't be able to go near them until Tatsuya turns 5. Ryo will have to wait 4 more years to meet the child he will protect." Sakurai said.
The gods and goddesses prepared their sons for their destined duties. From then on, the peace in Mount Eidolo has been destroyed. War between the younger gods and the higher gods has started and it is the minor god's goal to keep the demigod's alive until the day they have to face their fathers.
Takizawa kneeled in front of his son to talk to him.
"Tatsuya's life now depends on you. He cannot see you physically right now but time will come when you will be able to show yourself to him. Even if it is like this, it is still your duty to keep him safe. You have to look after him here on earth and continue training with Murakami at Mount Eidolo. It is a difficult job but this is your destiny. You were born to do this, Ryo." Takizawa said.
Takizawa hugged his son to show him his support. He then took Ryo inside the bedroom and they saw Uchi sitting on Kazuya's bed looking after him. Uchi smiled and waved at them.
"Takizawa-sama, is it time for Ryo to seal his soul with this boy?" Uchi asked.
"Yes, Uchi. Ryo will finally start his duty as a guardian. Will you help him adjust?" Takizawa asked the young minor god.
"I will, Takizawa-sama." Uchi said.
Takizawa led Ryo to the other bed where Tatsuya was sleeping. He took the boys hand then took Ryo's. He placed their hands together and after a while, a burst of light appeared on their joined hands. Ryo felt the heat but he cannot pull away. It felt like their hands were being cemented together. The heat began to penetrate his whole body and it did the same to the other boy. Ryo wanted to scream but no sound came out. After heating his whole body, the light came back to his hands and joined the light that came from Tatsuya's body. It gave one final burst then it was gone. He was now able to pull away his hand from the demigod who was still in deep slumber.
"Papa, what happened?" Ryo asked his father.
"Ryo, from now on, wherever he goes, you will be able to find him. Whenever he's in danger, you can sense it. Your soul and his soul are now connected. It is the link that you and Tatsuya has as guardian and demigod."

Takizawa walked towards the door and even before he can knock, it opened and they were greeted by another woman.
"Takizawa-sama, I thought you would never come." The woman said.
"I'm sorry to keep you waiting, Kamenashi-san." Takizawa said.
"Is this the boy? Is this Ueda Mariko's son?" she asked the god.
"Yes, this is Ueda Tatsuya."
"And who is this other boy?" Kamenashi asked when she saw Ryo standing beside his father.
"This is my son, Ryo. He will be Tatsuya's guardian." Takizawa said.
Kamenashi Mikako looks a little older than Ueda Mariko but she was also beautiful. When Takizawa said that Ryo is Tatsuya's guardian, she understood. Her son, Kamenashi Kazuya, also has one. His son's guardian is Uchi Hiroki, the son of Matsumoto Jun, god of beauty and desire, and Inoue Mao, goddess of love and passion.
Kamenashi-san led the god and the two boys inside the house. She showed Takizawa the room where Tatsuya will be staying. His son Kazuya was also in the same room sleeping. Just like Tatsuya, Kazuya is also a son of one of the higher gods. He is the son of Sakamoto Masayuki, God of Light. It has been decided by the younger gods that it will be safe for Tatsuya to stay and be raised by Kamenashi Mikako. The protection that Kamenashi-san's husband provides is much stronger compared to the husbands of the other women who bore the sons of the other higher gods because the love between Kamenashi Mikako and his husband is strong and pure.
"Is--is Mariko...gone?" Kamenashi-san asked when she and the god were back in the living room.
"Yes, she has done the sacrifice." Takizawa said.
Tears formed in Kamenashi-san's eyes. Ueda Mariko was a great mother and friend. She knows Mariko loved Tatsuya the most.
"She should've married." Kamenashi-san said.
"Even if she did, you know that the bond the god of gods have with her is so strong that no ordinary man can break it."
Kamenashi didn't say anything and just cried.
There are five higher gods in Mount Eidolo. Joshima Shigeru, the god of water; Nakai Masahiro, the god of air; Nagase Tomoya, the god of fire; Sakamoto Masayuki, the god of light; and the god of all gods, the god of earth and time, Kimura Takuya. Six years ago, the 5 gods came down from Mount Eidolo to search for women who will bear their child. Two of these women were Kamenashi Mikako and Ueda Mariko. The gods dressed up as ordinary humans and spent the night with the woman they found beautiful. These women only found out the real identity of the gods when they got pregnant. The gods told them that their sons will be protected and showered with gifts and will someday have the chance to live in Mount Eidolo.
This was until the prophecy was foreseen 4 years ago.
All the gods of Mount Eidolo were gathered at the palace to celebrate the coming of a new year. It was a lavish feast with food and music. Before the clock strikes 12, Aiba Masaki, god of prophecies, collapsed. His wife, Yamano Yuri, goddess of Music and Poetry rushed to his side. As everyone gathered around the unconscious god to check on him, he began to speak.
The higher gods must be prepared, their sons will bring despair.
It has been decided,they'll be overthrown and demigods will claim their throne.
Death is the only way this change of power will be put to rest,
But war and division among gods will be the ultimate test.
The gods ang goddesses all have horrified looks on their faces. Kimura Takuya gathered all the gods, high and young to the throne room.
"WHAT IS THIS PROPHECY ALL ABOUT? EXPLAIN IT TO ME!" Kimura Takuya was in rage. He held the half conscious Aiba by his clothes.
"My lord, please, Aiba is still recovering from the things he has foreseen!" Takizawa said and the god of all gods let go of Aiba.
Kimura sat on his throne and called on Domoto Tsuyoshi, god of war.
"Where is your wife?" Kimura asked Tsuyoshi
"Reiko and the other goddesses brought the children to their rooms, my lord." Tsuyoshi replied.
"TAGUCHI!" Kimura called for the messenger and he arrived a few seconds after.
"Yes, my lord? What can I do for you?" Taguchi bowed and kneeled in front of the god.
"Look for Takagaki and tell her I need her."
"As you wish, my lord."
Taguchi disappeared and after a few minutes, he entered the throne room with the goddess of health, Takagaki Reiko.
"Help him recover faster. I want my questions to be answered as soon as possible." Kimura said once he saw Takagaki.
The goddess stood by Aiba's side. She held out her hands and said some enchantments. In a moment, the god of prophecies regained his strength.
"Aiba, explain this prophecy." Kimura demanded.
Aiba took a deep breath. All eyes in the throne room were focused on him and they kept silent to hear his interpretations.
"My lord, the prophecy says that the mortal sons you've fathered will be the cause of your downfall." Aiba said.
"My downfall?"
"Yes, my lord. Your and the other higher god's downfall."
"This is not possible!" Nagase said, anger can be seen in his eyes.
"Liar!" Nakai added.
"I'm sorry, my lords, the prophecy never lies. You of all gods should know that." Aiba said.
Nagase and Nakai wanted to attack Aiba but they were stopped by Kimura.
"There is no other choice." Kimura said.
"What do you mean, my lord?" Sakurai Sho, god of wisdom and strategy, asked.
"We will get rid of the children." Kimura said.
Everyone whispered about the announcement.
"I believe I cannot let you do that, my lord." Takizawa said and everyone fell silent.
"And why is that, Takizawa? They are our sons. We can do anything we want to them."
"No, my lord. These boys are innocent and I will not let you take their lives just because you want to keep your power."
Kimura Takuya and Takizawa Hideaki stared at each other’s eyes. Takizawa was serious. He is the kind of man that won't let anyone die because of someone else's selfishness.
"If that is the case...my friends" Kimura Takuya looked at the other higher gods and they understood what the god of all gods want.
They all got ready for battle. They took out their weapons and were on fighting stance. All of the younger gods stood on the other side of the throne room and did the same. Takizawa headed them and on his side were Domoto Koichi, god of darkness and Tsuyoshi. Together, the Domoto brothers become the Masters of death.
"Is this what you want, Takizawa? A division between the gods of Mount Eidolo?" Kimura asked.
"I do not want any of these but I believe we have different opinions on how to handle this prophecy." Takizawa said.
"Even if you beat us by numbers, remember that the higher gods will always be the mightiest." Joshima Shigeru, god of water, said.
"The prophecy has spoken, a war will take place." Sakurai Sho said.
Kimura smiled and looked at the younger gods.
"If that is your wish, my friends, It will be done. But for now, we will spare your life. Do you best in protecting our sons but I want to remind you that no matter what, we will always have a connection with them. We will hunt them down and secure our power." Kimura said.
He tapped the other higher gods and together, the five of them left Mount Eidolo.
As soon as the higher gods were gone, Sakurai and Takizawa thought of ways on how to protect the mortal sons of the higher gods, the demigods. Being the wisest of the gods, Sakurai was the one who thought of the plans.
"We have to break the bond between the mothers and the higher gods." Sakurai said.
"How will we do that?" Takizawa asked.
"Through love" Inoue Mao answered.
Takizawa and Sakurai asked Inoue to explain.
"If the mothers of the demigods find a man to love and marry, the bond between them and the higher gods will be destroyed." Inoue said.
“Are you sure about this?” Sakurai asked.
"Yes but for the bonds to completely break, it must be true love. The stronger the love between the mothers of the demigods and the man they choose, the faster the bonds will break and that love will give extra protection to the demigods as they grow up for the higher gods cannot see past it."
"I see the point. What we have to do now is to meet with the mothers and explain to them everything that is to happen."
Takizawa Hideaki travelled with his wife Fukuda,Sakurai Sho and Inoue Mao that same night to gather the mothers of the demigods. Takizawa and Sakurai explained to them the prophecy while Inoue told them about breaking the bond with the higher gods. The mothers were afraid of their sons' future but they were ready to protect them.
Kamenashi Mikako, Nakamaru Rika, Akanishi Hinata and Yamashita Keiko all had plans of marriage. They were all in a relationship and had no problems with love. It was Ueda Mariko who has a problem. She's the only one who doesn't have a man to love.
Before meeting Kimura Takuya and carrying their son, Ueda Mariko was preparing to be a nun. The night she met Kimura was the first and last time she has fallen in love. When she found out she was pregnant, she threw away her dreams of becoming a nun and decided to build a family with the man she loves. That was until she learned that he was a god. Even if the father of her child can't be by her side, she loved him with all her heart and she can never look at another man the same way again.
Takizawa and Sakurai convinced her to look for a man to marry. Sakurai told Inoue to put a spell on Ueda to help her fall in love but Inoue refused.
"Even if I do that, it won't work." Inoue said.
"But her son is the one we need to protect the most. He is the son of Kimura Takuya. He will be targeted by his father." Sakurai said.
"But this woman, she loves the god of all gods and I can see she can never love another man the same way. It is useless. I'm afraid there is no way we can break the bond between the two of them. Her love for him is too strong." Inoue said. Being the goddess of love, she knows what she is saying and Sakurai knows he won't win even if he argues.
"Is there any other way?" Takizawa asked them.
Sakurai sighed. He knows of another way but it will be too much.
"There is another way we can save the boy but it won't be easy.” He finally said.
"What is it?" Takizawa asked.
"The mother's death."
No one spoke. They were too shocked to say something after what they heard.
"Death will destroy all the bonds Ueda-san has with anyone in this world. It is the only way." Sakurai said.
"But what will happen to the boy? Who will take care of him?" Inoue asked.
"Can't we take him to Mount Eidolo and take care of him?" Fukuda asked.
"We cannot do that. Bringing him to Mount Eidolo will be more dangerous than having his mother take him." Takizawa answered his wife.
While the gods and goddesses discussed, Ueda Mariko was in deep thought. He wants to save his son's life but falling in love and marrying another man is impossible.
"I will sacrifice my life for my son." Ueda Mariko finally said.
Everyone looked at her with sympathy.
"Are you sure about this, Ueda-san?" Takizawa asked.
"Yes, anything to save him." she replied.
"But who will take care of your son when you're gone?" Kamenash-san asked.
Ueda Mariko took Kamenashi Mikako's hands and looked at her with pleading eyes.
"Will you take him? Please? Raise him as if he was your own?" Ueda asked, her eyes starting to water.
Kamenashi-san cannot refuse Ueda-san's request so she agreed.
"I will take him. I promise I will treat him as my own son." Kamenashi said.
The gods and goddesses pitied Ueda-san. They want her to spend more time with her son.
"We can let her take care of her son for a few more years." Sakurai said.
"What do you mean?" the mothers asked.
"We have the power to protect and hide their identity from the higher gods but this is only limited. Our enchantments will only be effective until the boy turns 5.
After his fifth birthday, every spell put on him and his mother will be destroyed and they will be easily traced by the higher gods." Sakurai said.
"I accept that. I am willing to give up my life but I want to spend as much time with him as possible." Ueda Mariko said.
With that, the gods and goddesses put the enchantments on the mother and son. Takizawa told Ueda-san that they will meet again as soon as the boy turns five.
After meeting with the mothers, Takizawa and the others made their way back to Mount Eidolo. They were greeted by Sakurai's wife, Mizukawa Asami, goddess of wealth and fortune. She told them that Aiba had a vision. They all hurried to Aiba's room in the palace to hear the interpretation.
"What is it that you've seen?" Sakurai asked.
"Our sons." Aiba said.
"What about our sons?"
"Our sons will be the demigods' guardians. It is their destiny to protect the demigods. Five of the eight minor gods will have to stay by the demigod's side to keep them safe. Ohno and Minami's son, Ryuhei, will be Yamashita Tomohisa's guardian; Tsuyoshi and Takagaki's son, Koki, will be Nakamaru Yuichi's guardian; Sakurai and Mizukawa's son, Yu, will be Akanishi Jin's guardian; Matsumoto and Inoue's son, Hiroki, will be Kamenashi Kazuya's son; and Takizawa and Fukuda's son, Ryo, will be Ueda Tatsuya's guardian. All minor gods will have to train under Murakami Shingo to prepare them for their duties." Aiba said.
"All the guardians, except for Ryo, will be introduced to the demigods in the next year. Because the Ueda's are bound by the enchantmens of the gods, we won't be able to go near them until Tatsuya turns 5. Ryo will have to wait 4 more years to meet the child he will protect." Sakurai said.
The gods and goddesses prepared their sons for their destined duties. From then on, the peace in Mount Eidolo has been destroyed. War between the younger gods and the higher gods has started and it is the minor god's goal to keep the demigod's alive until the day they have to face their fathers.
Takizawa kneeled in front of his son to talk to him.
"Tatsuya's life now depends on you. He cannot see you physically right now but time will come when you will be able to show yourself to him. Even if it is like this, it is still your duty to keep him safe. You have to look after him here on earth and continue training with Murakami at Mount Eidolo. It is a difficult job but this is your destiny. You were born to do this, Ryo." Takizawa said.
Takizawa hugged his son to show him his support. He then took Ryo inside the bedroom and they saw Uchi sitting on Kazuya's bed looking after him. Uchi smiled and waved at them.
"Takizawa-sama, is it time for Ryo to seal his soul with this boy?" Uchi asked.
"Yes, Uchi. Ryo will finally start his duty as a guardian. Will you help him adjust?" Takizawa asked the young minor god.
"I will, Takizawa-sama." Uchi said.
Takizawa led Ryo to the other bed where Tatsuya was sleeping. He took the boys hand then took Ryo's. He placed their hands together and after a while, a burst of light appeared on their joined hands. Ryo felt the heat but he cannot pull away. It felt like their hands were being cemented together. The heat began to penetrate his whole body and it did the same to the other boy. Ryo wanted to scream but no sound came out. After heating his whole body, the light came back to his hands and joined the light that came from Tatsuya's body. It gave one final burst then it was gone. He was now able to pull away his hand from the demigod who was still in deep slumber.
"Papa, what happened?" Ryo asked his father.
"Ryo, from now on, wherever he goes, you will be able to find him. Whenever he's in danger, you can sense it. Your soul and his soul are now connected. It is the link that you and Tatsuya has as guardian and demigod."
A/NII: first time to write a fic with this genre. :O don't worry, i'm not dropping hime-chan and UC. i just needed to write something else to get over the writer's block. :)
