“Minho oppa~” Chae Yeon whined while grabbing at Minho’s front shirt, trying to balance herself from her drunken stupor. She was very drunk to begin with, for she staggered down the path in a zig zag manner, while still grabbing onto Minho. Her cloudy mind and body were not coordinating well - which seemed to be a nuisance to Minho. But then again, since when common sense and alcohol mixed well together?

Every time she got near to him, her breath reeked of hard liquor; a distraction from his senses in a bad way. He grabbed onto her fists on his shirt, tugging on them to release but she would not budge.

They were both at this deserted breakwater extending out towards the sea; away from the main road and parking lot. It was late into the night, not to mention too quiet too, except for the low howling of sea breeze and crashes of waves onto the shore. Minho quickly presumed that no one was around that area at that time.

“Chae Yeon, you’re drunk,” Minho said flatly, repeatedly trying to yank her fingers on his now crumpled shirt. She had been making a fool out of herself, flailing her arms like a wild child and screaming out of random. Unfortunately, it seemed uninteresting to Minho. Darn, that bitch can’t control her alcohol well.

“Nooooooo!” She whined once again, in an unexpectedly higher pitch, to which Minho rolled his eyes in disgust; thankful that there was not much light in the area for her to notice it. She leaned in closer towards him; Minho spontaneously shifted his head towards the side, away from that unpleasant smell that had been bothering since she got closer to him. “I want chu, oppa~”

Tiptoeing on her flats, she reached up dangerously close to Minho’s lips, grinning once her deep painted ones met with his.

Minho just froze there; staring down at her while she pushed her way through to slip her seductive tongue past his lips, exploring the moist depths inside. His eyes were still open, letting himself be ravaged by this disgusting girl who was now nibbling on his bottom lip while discreetly rubbing her crotch against that particular region.

While her lips were busy on Minho, with her fingers stealthily unbuttoning the top buttons of his shirt, he stole the chance to fish out a pocket knife from his jeans pocket.

Distracting her, he responded into the kiss roughly before plunging the blade into Chae Yeon’s stomach with full force.

“Minho! Where are you?!”

The 11 year old just stood by the door, motionless; arms tensed by his sides. His body trembled a little, his mother’s loud voice resounded in his brain a couple of times. He had heard of it too many times before; each time it seemed to get louder, angrier, scarier.

The moment he set his eyes on his mother, he knew he was in trouble. Flash of anger screened the same pair of eyes that were meeting his terrified ones. He could feel himself trembling further, as the woman took large angry strides towards the little boy. The closer she got to him, the more merciless and contorted her face had become.

“I’m sorry, umma-“

“HOW DARE YOU SAY APOLOGISE!” Minho found himself to be brutally slapped across the cheek with the back of her hand; neck twisted sharply towards the side. Little did he knew, the waterworks that stopped few hours ago started running again. He wailed, misty eyes pleading for mercy.

“WHY ARE YOU CRYING, YOU SICK LITTLE-“ The sheer force of his mother’s blows threw him on the ground, tiny sickly little arms shielded his head from the oncoming blows. His now burning stained cheek stung from a gash of wound caused by the tip of his mother’s encrusted diamond ring. Incessant cries, alongside with harsh verbal abuse resonated the house, drowning the high pitched whistling of the kettle, left unattended on the stove.

The blade pierced through cotton, tearing flesh and bone, earning a choked groan from the unfortunate girl. Minho failed to meet her eyes, which were now wide open; almost bulging out of her eye sockets, as she abruptly broke the kiss. The sharp pain seared through her insides and around the open wound, which was still embedded with the knife. Without hesitating, he deepened the sharp metal into her body while at the same time, twisting it in the clockwise direction, tearing up more flesh than it already had.

He pulled away from her along with the knife, his other hand that was by her waist roughly pushing her onto the pebbled surface. She cried loudly in pain, chocolate irises squeezed tight shut; her voice was still hoarse as words were still choked in her throat. Her now bloodied hands settled onto the wound at the front of her stomach, hoping to ease away the pain.

No, it would not.

The pain was getting intense as it met with the cold salty air, immediately surging through her body, her vision almost blurring as tears lost its restraint to fall. Minho, still with the murder weapon in his hand, crouched down to face his victim, bringing it up close to examine the maroon-ish liquid silvered underneath all the moonlight.

Chae Yeon, who was now struggling to breathe, her arteries starting to drain her body dry, could only focus her eyes on Minho. Why, why was he doing this to me? Didn’t he know I loved him all this while?

“Minho…” The only name that lingered in her dazed mind, the only distinct word she managed to let out in the dense air. Minho could do nothing, but to just watch the girl suffer and writhe in pain. He still held the blade away from his face, almost a distance in between them, in such a way that even Chae Yeon could easily see the metal and blood combination.

“Tsk tsk tsk,” Minho clucked his tongue sympathetically towards her in an almost sadistic manner. “You deserved it, bitch.”

Chae Yeon was even scared than before, eyes smouldered with layers of eye makeup begged him for mercy as the same blade sliced through the tanned skin of her neck.

Minho was not a man of second chances; not even the most beautiful pair of eyes could escape his treacherous trap. Or so he thought, but that was another whole different story.

She gradually fell silent; her body was now devoid of emotion and movement, bloodshot eyes still remained and face pallid with fear.
You fucking deserved it.

“Haven’t you heard?” Taeyeon slipped into the seat across Minho with a smoothie in her hand. She placed it delicately on the table as she settled comfortably.

“What?” Minho looked up from his drink.

“Someone found a body near the waters yesterday night. It was horrific,” Taeyeon’s face scrunched a little, probably after imagining some severed bloodied body in her head. Well, Minho clearly knew what she was talking about. It was not that horrific as according to his ‘standards’. If he could compare, this was just cheesecake. He had done much worse than that.

Taeyeon sipped a little of her drink before continuing; her lips stayed close to the straw. “It was a girl, about my age. I heard from my dad she worked at some motel. Probably one of those people.”

“Oh really?” Minho raised an eyebrow in question, pretended to be shocked by this piece of news. He mentally applauded himself for maintaining such a poker face even at these times. This was the first time that someone or rather, a town found out about one of his murders. This was because usually, he would have escaped out of the town after he had committed the crime.

Leave no trace behind, no one should find out about it. However they want to deal with the case or the body was none of his business.
But this time, it was different.

“That must have been really bad, then.”

“It is!” Taeyeon exclaimed. “From what I’ve heard from my neighbours, she was stabbed on the front and slashed on the neck. Murdered at such a young age, her attacker must be really vile and cruel!”

Minho did not see the need to respond. Instead, he shifted his gaze out of the window of the café, towards the other small eateries lined across the opposite street. It seemed like any other day for him, and maybe for everyone else too. It was past noon; with the sun at its peak with its blinding sun rays. No one seemed perturbed by the murder. Or so he thought.

“It’s a worrying thought, Minho-sshi-“

“Oppa,” Minho corrected her, shifting his focus to Taeyeon. She was taken aback that he cut her off just like that.

“What?”

“Call me Minho oppa instead. Minho-sshi sounds like I’m twice my age and besides, drop the formalities. We’ve past that stage.”

Taeyeon narrowed her eyes, questioning his motive as to this title that seemed to appear important to Minho. Realising that she had not finish her sentence, she put it aside for a later thought.

“Alright, Minho oppa” She stressed on the ‘oppa’, earning a little grin from the tall male in front of her.

Minho liked how the word itself, even though it was only two syllables, rolled of her tongue, which sounded so heavenly to his ears. He would love to hear it from her more.

“It’s a little worrying, don’t you think so? I mean, I don’t know whether the girl was previously… raped before she was murdered…”

No she didn’t, Taeyeon, Minho mentally replied her in his head, eyeing her casually across the table. Call me inhumane for killing an innocent life, but I am not that kind of man.

Somehow, he felt his heart twinged uncomfortably; hurt. Even though Taeyeon was not in any way directing the accusation towards him, but he felt it. Has the time come for him to feel guilty for his actions?

“… and you will never know who will be the next victim. Any girl in town is vulnerable. I know this case does not have any connection with me, but I’m just worried.”

The mood at the table was serious, too serious that Minho could not help but to smile and let out a silent chuckle at Taeyeon. She was beginning to get a little furious - how could anyone be laughing at a serious matter as this?!

“OPPA!” She shrieked, leading to some ten pairs of eyes looking at her, wondering what the commotion was. “How can you laugh at a time like this?!”

“I’m sorry Taeyeon,” Minho tried to contain himself, feeling himself about to erupt into a roaring laughter.

“No one’s going to hurt you,” Minho reassured her, leaning closer towards the pretty girl. She stayed unmoved from her seat. Her eyes just spelt hatred and anger all over. So you hate me now, baby?

“Cheap whores,” Taeyeon’s eyes widened slightly at the mention of that crude word. “-like her deserve it. Girls like you don’t. What’s there to worry?”

“How can you be assured of that?” Taeyeon snapped immediately, this time glaring daggers at Minho.

The next course of action happened in a quick snap, as if Minho’s hands just did all the decision making themselves. His long arm stretched across the table, slipping past her neck to cradle her jaw before leaning across and capturing her plump lips into a quick kiss.
Taeyeon was surprised, as expected. She struggled to break free but soon, her tiny struggles died down, responding into the kiss. The feeling was… indescribable. It was different as compared to her past kisses. It was very much different.

She did not know what exactly enticed her deeper into it, but somehow or rather, she could feel Minho’s sincerity and love just through this lip to lip contact.

Love? Love.
That feeling of butterflies fluttering wildly in her stomach, the feeling of utter bliss to be lip-locking with such a handsome stranger who she now considered her close friend… did she happen to have feelings for him?

Even before she wanted to relish the last moments of this bliss, Minho began to pull away but their faces remained mere inches apart. Taeyeon’s eyelashes batted slowly, and cheeks started to flush, that rosy tint matched perfectly well with her lip colour - something Minho adored so much.

As they locked eyes with one another, giving each other shy smiles, both of them waiting for the right moment to break away from this gaze, it dawned on Minho.

He found himself falling for Taeyeon harder than he was supposed to.
