New FAQ thread.

WHAT IS TWELVECOLONIES?
twelvecolonies is a Battlestar Galactica challenge community inspired by whedonland . There are three teams: Team Basestar, Team Colonial One, Team Galactica. Once sorted onto a team you begin competing in different challenges - some art based, fic based, trivia based, luck based, etc.
HOW DO I JOIN?
Simply apply for a team here. Do not try to join before applying.
OK I GOT A TEAM, NOW WHAT DO I DO?
You should have received invites to twelvecolonies and to your team's community (sometimes not at the same time). Accept these invites. Then browse the communities. Maybe there's ann introduction post in your team community where you could introduce yourself to your teammates? Or maybe you want to join in on challenges right away? Head over to the list of current challenges, it's always linked in the sidebar of the main comm.
HOW DO I ENTER A CHALLENGE?
Instructions and rules are given in every challenge post. Most of the time you'll have to leave a comment with your entry. One very important rule is to always mention your team name!
DO I HAVE TO ENTER ALL CHALLENGES?
Of course not. You are encouraged to enter any and all challenges you can. At the bare minimum though, you should enter at least one challenge every week on average (this includes everything, even voting). Should you be inactive for a couple of weeks (you will receive a PM prior) you will be removed from your team's community. You are more than welcome to re-apply however once you have more free time on your hands.
WHAT DO I DO IF I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT A PARTICULAR CHALLENGE?
At the first comment to every challenge, we always leave a Questions thread. Ask any questions there and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.
HOW DO I KEEP TRACK OF THE ACTIVITIES?
I strongly advise to:
- watch and even track twelvecolonies
- make sure you're watching your team community too
- if you have a twitter account, I set up one for twelvecolonies and will post reminders there (new challenges, and challenges about to end)
IS THERE A PLACE TO HANG OUT/SOCIALIZE WITH MEMBERS FROM ALL TEAMS?
There sure is! luxury_cloud9 is the place and I'd love to see more activity there!
HOW DO I GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU IF I HAVE A GENERAL QUESTION/PROBLEM/SUGGESTION/NEED YOUR HELP ASAP?
You have several options:
- leave a comment (they're screened) in the Page-A-Mod post
- send me a pm (nicole_anell)
WHO ARE THE MODS BTW?
goloptious created this community. She's on a leave of absence right now so I (nicole_anell) am running it.

I AM NOT THE BEST WRITER / GRAPHICS PERSON. DOES THAT MATTER?
While there is often voting, what's most important is participation! Based on my own experience in challenge communities, the teams that do best are those that can develop a real team spirit and whose members are very active and participate a lot.

Should you have to leave the competition for any reason please head over to the Opt Out post and drop a line. You are free to re-join again at any time.
