So a couple of weeks ago, the
AS DVD. It's actually really good! I was impressed. I felt some of the reviews on Amazon were somewhat... harsh? Yes, harsh, that's definitely it. I watched the subtitled version of course (because during the intro I got a chance to hear Sara's dubbed voice and I wanted to cry and rip my own ears off and maybe then the blood would have saved me), so yes.
1. There is a lot of gore. It looks very funny and I found it very whimsical because the blood is so, so thick. Like ketchup.
2. Lots of Kira. Not fanservice, but good enough. Seriously. His character is so remarkably fleshed out in just three episodes that even if you had no love for him, you'd still have a whole lotta respect. Ow. And his brief monologue on how he shouldn't have done that, "that" being comfort Setsuna and letting Setsuna cry on his shoulder while he uh uh pets his hair and stuff and I am totally being serious--anyway, that? IS PRECIOUS.
3. I found Sara cute. No, I'm not kidding. I found her anime presence less pretentious than her usual whining self, but I also think that I couldn't get sick of her because there really wasn't enough of her for me to be sick about. (Though I love Gabriel a lot a lot a lot, though that's different.)
4. Something I didn't like: Katan essentially becomes Kirie. As in, HELLO SETSUNA I PLAN ON KILLING YOU EVEN THOUGH I'M NOT A PITIFUL LITTLE GIRL WITH A CRUSH ON ROSIEL, AND OH NOES LOOK I KILLED THE WRONG PERSON AND KIND OF SPARKED THE DESTRUCTION OF EARTH.
Yeah, that. >_>
5. But I did like it a lot. I don't even mind the Katan scandal very much because hello, Sensei I looooovvveeeeeeee yooooouuuuuu no matter what. And plus the art. And the music!!! I could recognize some songs from the OST right off the bat, go me.
But other than that, I give it four stars. ♥
And aaahh aaaahhh Trent Reznor + Tori Amos = *_____*
