Passion v.s. Talent v.s. Pragmatism

In the 19 years of my life, I've heard so many people say, "Hey Constance! That's really well done! You should totally do it for a living, I'm sure you'll be great." But the thing is, it's not always for the same field. I'm sure everone will get this once in a while. And you know it leaves me totally confused and sometimes I do wonder what I should really do. This is the first time I actually sit down and think about it seriously. I mean, I've got thoughts like this but I guess I just chucked them aside. Then I realised that I should probably start thinking about it.

How do you deal with these? I mean, it's not all the time that what you're passionate about is the very thing that you're talented in and gifted to do. To add to that, not everything that we're passionate about or talented to do can make make enough money to live a comfortable life. In our society where money talks louder, much louder than passion or talent, people do put much emphasis on making money for practical reasons. But ultimately, I do not want to live a miserable life, working just to make ends meet. I really wonder how some people can just stay in a job just to make money and himself/herself so unhappy.

I am definitely not someone who can sit at an office desk for a crazy 10 hours, staring at the computer screen, dealing with 9374620642349 numbers and even more documents. Trust me, I did that for 3 months and I swear it's the most tiring and unproductive days of my life. Of course, i made good money. But I don't think that's all I look for in a job. Because I rather earn a few dollars less than torture myself and waste my time thinking that I could have been somewhere else better. On the other hand, I'm not saying that money is not important. It is. But I don't let in run my life.

I do things that I love. Because they make me happy, they feed my soul. Isn't this what life is all about? We don't exist just to live life a day at a time. God gave us life to enjoy it. Everyday is a gift from Him and we should totally cherish it and do things that makes us happy.

So I believe balance is the key of life. Gotta have all 3 in all things that you do. (: Talent ensures that you succeed and can only bring you so far. Passion keeps you on the top. And it'll definitely be great to be able to make money through things that you're passionate about. No? :D
