That is actually the nicest review I've ever heard from you. Which is shocking because I don't have that many nice things to say.

The Awkward. Goddamit. I mean really. I thought, this movie is an excellent opportunity for people to show not tell me that Harry and Ginny like each other. Maybe they will be cute and flirty. But no. No. It was all, let me pop this in your mouth Harry, and let me tie your shoe Harry, and better hold my hand Harry. Seriously, how very...motherly. In a creepy awkward way. I didn't think it could be done worse than the book. Bravo movie, bravo.

Overall, I just thought there was too much romance. I would have liked there to be more a sense of urgency at Hogwarts. The funny and romance can be used to make the scary and sad worse, and I just don't feel the film had that balance. I would have liked Dumbledore to say, Harry what are you playing at, you do your job and let Snape do his. I also would have liked some Bill and Fleur. Ginny is almost funny in her scathing comments about Fleur in the book. Also the DA, I would have like to see them get called to fight.

Some of these problems though I feel can be fixed in the next movie though. A letter from Dumbledore about what he thinks the next horcruxes are would be a great place to start a movie cause it would catch people up and give the story urgency right off the bat. Also, Neville mustering the DA with Ginny on his own would only increase Neville's badass points.

So there you have it.

Yes, well. I think the fact that this is my nicest review is because it has been so long since I read the book.

I agree with everything you say. It was definitely a very teenage hormones movie. I was trying to cut back on the complaints though.

When I look back, I can't think that there was that much urgency in the book. The majority of it came from Harry being obsessed with what Draco was up to. And maybe who wrote the book, but that wasn't urgent. But since Hermione and Ron thought Harry was a lunatic, that urgency was lessened anyway. And we didn't really find out why the heck Dumbledore was showing Harry all those memories until later in the book, right?

Bill and Fleur would have been nice. And I think you are right about the potential for the next movie, especially since they are splitting in two anyway.

I have one more complaint. Dumbledore. He said all of the quirky things that made Dumbledore awesome, but I wasn't feeling it. I dunno.

actually I thought this Dumbledore was the closest Gambon ever came to mixing the awesome powers and craziness without making him come off as a bi-polar nut job.

I didn't like the book for a lot of the reason's I didn't like the movie, after the clausterphobia of the last book, where Harry and crew were watched constantly, and shit was going down but no one was buying into it, I was annoyed that book six seemed all, same old Hogwarts, hahahaha, lets snog! Had there not been a book five, maybe the tone would have been fine, but as it was, I kind of wish they had kept up the DA and continued going, there is a war on, life is serious. Not that there couldn't have been snogging too, I just want both in a believable sense. Anyway, I never liked book six, and I guess I shouldn't have expected I would like the movie more.

I never expect to like the movies. Well, maybe I used to hope, but now I don't. Also, I just have never liked Daniel Radcliffe.

Yeah, the war stuff seemed almost background, besides the Draco stuff. But the Death Eaters trying to break in in that one shot. Did anyone even notice?

Dumbledore. I sort of see your point, but I just didn't but the quirks. Not all the time. The speech at the beginning of the year was good. Less so the repeated use of "You're probably wondering why..."

The DA DEFINITEY should have been maintained. Actually, I thought at one point in the movie that I was forever ruined by SRB. Because now I think things like, "Harry deserves to be taken to task for just letting the DA slide," like Zacharias Smith did in QoM. Or "No, Ginny and Harry can't get together like that because that makes Harry less of s socially awkward jerk."
