I keep logging into LJ, getting overwhelmed by how long it's been & how long it'll take to catch myself up, and wandering off for another few days. It's not like my life is so exciting that I need to provide much backstory.

Isobel, Rachel, and I went shopping on Friday. The last clothes (excluding bras & knickers) I bought myself were maternity clothes, so I really needed to update my wardrobe a bit. We managed to catch some great sales & I came home with bags of stuff. My closet is now almost as well-stocked as Isobel's. I like.

We ended up driving to Blacksburg for lunch, which was great fun. I hadn't been there since I was little (despite it only being about 10 minutes past Christiansburg) but Rachel wanted sushi & I decided to chance it. We found a fantastic sushi bar, a Books-a-Million, and a Maggie Moo's. I think we'll be regular visitors to Blacksburg from now on.

Isobel can't always be bothered to eat these days, so I was surprised when she polished off two jars of baby food & started eyeing up my sushi. I picked the avocado & crab out of the California rolls for her, and she enjoyed that so much that I had to get her an order of avocado nigiri to herself. Rachel & I were so proud.

Today I took Isobel to the town "Jubilee," which was basically just a small street fair with lots of live music. We wandered around for a bit, picked up our fruit & veggie shares, a water bath canner, and some chocolates at Nancy's. She's so funny now, waving "Hi" and "Bye" at everyone she sees. I don't think I have a shy one on my hands.

Daddy & Nanny came over this afternoon & kept an eye on Isobel so I could put up some of the veggies. I've been stuffing the freezer with cherries all week, and now I've added some broccoli & mixed greens as well. I'm going to try making jam tomorrow, I think, to use up the last cherries of the season. I had a few Lodi apples in the fruit bag today, so no doubt there'll be apple butter in the slow cooker before long.

Along those same lines--Now that Isobel's on the moo juice, I picked up two bottles (yes, glass bottles!) of local milk for her at the farm stand today. I had to sneak a cup for the cake I was baking tonight, and I completely blissed out when I found a thick layer of cream floating at the top of the bottle. I had to get a knife & break it up before I could shake it into the milk, and all that joy costs $1 less than our old supermarket brand. I love this place.

We may be getting a houseguest tomorrow (Penny is coming to visit. I haven't seen her since James & I got married. OMG YAY!) so I really should be tidying my house--or at least picking up a few of the monkey's toys--instead of sitting here on my arse catching up on last week's Big Mixtape but where's the fun in that? Sleep is a far more sensible option anyway. I'll worry about the rest of it tomorrow.
