I was making caramel to dip my biscotti in the other day when I managed to accidentally get hot caramel globs across my hand.
Now I have two bigger blisters (about 1/2 inch in diameter), and about 3 smaller ones (1/8 inch). It sucks because the two big ones are on the palm of my hand, and the inside of my ring finger near the fold, so everytime I try to clench my hand it hurts, grrr.
On the plus side, they appear to only be second degree burns. And despite the hysteria and tears accompanying caramel burning through my flesh (no really, it did!), I managed to remember my first aid treatment and do everything properly. I just wish they would pop already, grrr. Anyone know how long that usually takes?
Re: baking, I'm just over half done. So far I have made:
- Caramel almond biscotti (caramel can suck it from now on)
- Chocolate truffles
- Chocolate pecan fudge
- Peanut butter blossoms
- Shortbread
But I still have to bake:
- Stained glass cookies
- Sugar cookies
- Pecan butter tarts
Gah! At least everything is super yummy so far! But I'm out of containers, and room to store this stuff.
raymous - I'm not coming up until the 26th, so if you want to hook up for coffee and/or get a box of the above mentioned sweets, lemme know, yo.
Other than that, everything is good. The weather has returned to its bukkake state, expelling nothing but clumps of that white shit in my hair. Grrrr! I hate winter with a fiery passion. I really really really really really really really really really hope Dave's drive home goes okay. I'll be beyond livid, aka coma-shock, if anything should happen to him less than a week before the holidays. I'm not religious, but I'm seriously praying his drive goes okay. :/
