Is there anyone my dad's age cooler than Johnny Dowd? I highly doubt it. Seriously, put that man in front of a microphone and he will make you laugh and cry at the same time. His songs are extremely dark, but in a very humorous way. Last night's show was incredible. His band rocked really hard and having Kelly (who was tending bar) sing with him was a treat (as always.) Speaking of Kelly...I ordered a Shirley Temple from her and she gave me 2 cherries AND a little umbrella! I *heart* her. She's my hero. But anyway, what more can I say about last night's show? When Johnny did his spoken word piece, I could have sworn Thax Douglas (front row) looked jealous. Johnny really does have a way with words.
Ed Burch did a great job opening too. I'd forgotten what a great voice he has. Lots of Union related songs (hillarious considering I was there with my dad and his friend Emily who have a history with the union.)
It was cool seeing Ed with Stacy because we met seeing Ed about 2 years ago. Good times indeed.
Ok, it's past my bedtime, I'll report more on life as we know it tomorrow.
